ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

36 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:40 am
Sunset: 8:24 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
August 17th is Foul Ball Day. It's a day to celebrate those baseball fans who intercept those errant hardballs. Head on out to a Major League or minor league Baseball game on August 17th and be sure to grab a baseball glove before you go, and watch out for those foul balls.
Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off... the right pitch will come, but when it does, be prepared to run the bases.
Rick Maksian
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You see, you spend a good piece of your life gripping a baseball, and in the end it turns out that it was the other way around all the time.
Jim Bouton, Ball Four, 1970
I just happen to have a few pictures of DS#6 and his son at a baseball game recently so that is what you are seeing today. Most of the baseball games I ever attended were sitting on the sidelines as a mom. Years ago some of my son's played soft ball and had great fun doing it too.
Football has already started but while summer is still here, let's not forget the great sport of baseball! Baseball is still our national sport or national pastime. Many people have played ball and most love to watch it. The game of baseball can teach us many things about life.
For one thing we need to appreciate what's happening, while it's happening, which is the only way we can really enjoy anything in life. We also need to take things one step at a time and focus only on what we can control. Most of that time the only thing we can control is our attitude. We need to stay focused and positive.
More importantly it is always good to remember that winners may never loose, but losers always win. It really isn't all about whether we fail or win, it's how we play the game. Being a good sport in life makes you a winner time after time. And last but not least, don't ever give up because you never know what's going to happen next.
I hope you all have a super Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
It’s when you count blessings — you see Who can be counted on
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
863. for baseball
864. for team work, the best way to get things done
865. for a good attitude, it does make a difference
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
Progress always involves risks. You can't steal second base and keep your foot on first.
Frederick B. Wilcox
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Such cute pictures!! Happy Saturday! :)
Sweet pictures of your baseball fans. The Detroit tigers on TV are the only ones I attend these days but I do have a glove handy. Cheers.
