ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 18th, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's TUESDAY!
NATIONAL WINNIE THE POOH DAY
This beloved collection of stories, first published in 1926, was inspired by the teddy bear of author A.A. Milne's son, Christopher Robin, who himself became one of the stories' characters. The result was actually the adorable honey loving bear we've all come to know and cherish.
Have some fun today. Celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day by reading some storybooks about the adventures of Winnie and his friends. Don't read them alone. Read them with young children.
Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. Pooh! he whispered. Yes, Piglet? Nothing, said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. I just wanted to be sure of you.

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
IT'S PEKING DUCK DAY
One of China's national dishes, Peking Duck has been served for centuries to emperors, diplomats, and plain folk alike. This roast duck is known for its delicious, crispy skin, which is sometimes served separately from the meat, which is often served wrapped in thin pancakes. Chinese food certainly has a following in the US, where today is Peking Duck Day!
I've not ever had Peking Duck and although I do like Chinese food, I doubt this is one I'll be making myself, but it would be nice to sample it sometime.
PRAYERS
Lord bless those whom we love today and watch over them in a special way. We thank you for the gifts you will give us today, may we use them to accomplish Your purposes.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Did you ever stop to think, and forget to start again?
Winnie the Pooh
I'll have our little Mr. Wonderful here at my house today. I only have him 2 days this week as yesterday was a holiday for him Mom and Dad and they didn't have to work. He is growing so fast and doing more each week that I watch him. He is almost 5 months old now and wearing mostly 9 month size clothing.
Today we are to be a little warmer and perhaps have what they call a wintery mix. Rain mixed with snow. Take good care all!
COUNTING THE DAYS
Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering.

Happy POOH Day Ma. I've never tasted Peking Duck either and have always wanted to. I'm staying warm here in NS: minus 17 deg Celsius here today (1.4 deg Faren)!
