ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 30th, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's SUNDAY!
One of the things we did this weekend was to celebrate January birthdays!
Today is a dear friend's birthday. She is also DDIL#1's mom so I just want to send along a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her today. May the dear Lord bless you today and always!
THINKING
You can count the seeds in the apple,
but not the apples in the seed.
Ken Kersey
Today: Realize that people are very much like apple seeds. There's no telling what's inside each person that we meet, no telling the potential that each person has for growth and for doing exceptional things
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
It's National Croissant Day
The croissant or crescent roll has really gained in popularity over the last couple of decades. This crescent moon-shaped bread is made with layered puff pastry and baked until it is nicely browned, flaky and light
Easy Chocolate Croissants
1 package (8 ounce size) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1/3 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
colored sprinkles
Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Unroll dough and separate into triangles. Cover each triangle with about 2 teaspoons chocolate chips, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Roll up triangles, starting from the wide end. Transfer to a baking sheet.
Bake 12 minutes, until golden brown. Place crescents on a wire rack to cool slightly. In a small bowl, mix sugar and milk until smooth. With a small spoon, drizzle icing stripes on outside of croissants.
PRAYERS
Lord, this day and forever, may we have the courage never to be afraid of anyone. May we have the generosity to bear ill-feeling toward no one.
Lead us to live in such a way as to treat others in the same way as we would like to be treated.
Inspire us never to be violent in thought, word or action, and lead us to conquer evil with goodness.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Today I'm sharing a letter I read the other day...It's one of those internet things but I thought it worth while.
Request for Transfer Denied
Your request for transfer has been denied. I herewith present My
reasons:
You are needed in this battle. I have selected you, and I will keep My Word to supply your need. You do not need a demotion and transfer. (You’d never cut it on latrine duty.) You need a period of R and R – Renewal and Rekindling. I am setting aside a place on the battlefield that is insulated from all sound and fully protected from the enemy. I will meet you there, and I will give you rest. I will remove your old equipment and make all things new.
You have been wounded in the battle, My soldier. Your wounds are not
visible, but you have received grave internal injuries. You need to be healed. I will heal you. You have been weakened in the battle. You need to be strengthened. I will strengthen you and be your strength. I will instill in you confidence and ability. My Words will rekindle within you a renewed love, zeal and enthusiasm.
Report to Me tattered and empty. I will refill you.
Compassionately,
Your Commander-in-Chief, Jesus Christ
I'll be headed home today after a great but busy weekend.
Enjoy yourSunday of R & R everyone!
COUNTING THE DAYS
Remember you're unique, just like everyone else
49 DAYS UNTIL SPRING!
78 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
