For Saturday, January 15th, 2011
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE JANUARY 15th, 2011 If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side It's SATURDAY! NATIONAL HAT DAY National Hat Day is set aside to wear and enjoy a hat of your choice and style. Isn't it great that hats come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and styles? There's one to fit every size head and personality. Often, hats are used to make a statement, or to promote a cause or a product. Oh yeah... hats have logical uses, too. Some hats (Aka helmets), offer safety protection. Some hats keep your head warm....More body heat is lost from your head than other parts of the body. So, wearing a hat goes a long way towards staying warm on a cold winter's day. National Hat Day is not intended to just keep you warm. Its a chance to make a statement and to display you favorite headgear. We suggest you wear a number of different hats over the course of the day If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good. Dr. Seuss THINKING Progress isn’t made by early risers. It’s made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something Robert Heinlein Today: Simplify one thing in your life that’s complicating your daily routine NEW IN THE KITCHEN National Strawberry Ice Cream Day The three top flavors of ice cream are vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, respectively. That's why fast food restaurants feature all three flavors of milkshake, and why Neapolitan ice cream is a smart choice for those who can't make up their minds! But this is a day for strawberry to take the spotlight. While it may be cold outside, that can't stop us from observing National Strawberry Ice Cream Day! To make your own: 2 1/2 cups very cold light cream or half-and-half 1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 20 ounces package unsweetened strawberries individually frozen, unthawed Put all the ingredients in the food processor and process until combined, the cream and strawberries forming a soft billowy cream with bits of berry visible. Scrape down the sides once or twice with a rubber spatula. Put the ice cream in the freezer in a covered container to firm up a little before serving. Makes 6 servings PRAYERS Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the people who love me Amen
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and Paramedics and EMT's GOD BLESS YOU!
