ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FEBRUARY 12TH, 2010
It's FINALLY FRIDAY!
Today is Abraham Lincoln’s birthday and Monday is President’s day.
He was the 16th U.S. president. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in present-day Larue County, Kentucky. His birthday was declared a holiday in 1892. Now it's included in President's Day.
Sometimes I think the importance of what they have done gets left behind since all the Presidents seem to get lumped together in a Monday holiday.
Since we do have that Monday holiday and our banks and post offices are closed on Monday, I’m doing a Friday payroll today. We always have to do that instead of Monday when the banks close. Most people now have their paychecks direct deposited now so in order for everyone to be paid on time we have payroll early.
The bad thing about this is that I used to be able to take off from work on these Fridays and make a long 3 day weekend. Now I can’t do that. The good thing is that this is probably the last Friday payroll I’ll have to do. Yip-pee! When the next one rolls around someone else will be doing it.
THINKING
Write your plans in pencil and let God have the eraser. No part of life is outside the control of God. So when we make plans, we need to remember, If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that…
What is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away
James 4:14
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Today is Pizza Day
I have to tell you about one of the simplest pizza’s to make that I know of.
They are made with English muffins.
You take an English muffin and split it in half.
Then spread a little pizza sauce on each half.
Sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on top of that
And add mushrooms and pepperoni on top.
Bake these in your toaster oven at 425 degrees until the cheese is melted.
They are tasty and very good. Of course you can put whatever toppings on them that you want. If you want sausage, green pepper or onion, just put whatever you want on top. The sausage would have to be cooked first though. If you are making them for a crowd just put them on a cookie sheet in the regular oven instead of the toaster oven.
They make great snacks too.
PRAYERS
Father, put my life back together according to Your designs
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, Where have I gone wrong?
Then a voice says to me, This is going to take more than one night.

FAMILY
Children are of great comfort to us in our old age, and they help us get there much more quickly than we otherwise would
Author Unknown
I saw this quote the other day and thought about it awhile. I really think that most of the time my children keep me young. I would say that they keep me up on things and keep me busy but make me old…no I think that I’ve done that all on my own.
COUNTING THE DAYS
I leave you, hoping that the lamp of liberty will burn in your bosoms until there shall no longer be a doubt that all men are created free and equal.
36 DAYS UNTIL SPRING !
63 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
48 DAYS UNTIL MA RETIRES
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma

I like the idea of writing my plans in pencil and giving God the eraser. One of the hardest things to do is to let go, let God. I think I am learning though! xxoo
I'll second the Yipee with you Ma,that it's the last time you will be doing the payrole.Oh!!how I wish I lived closer to make you a retirement party. That would be great.I hope you enjoy doing the payrole today, knowing it is the last time. The pizza sound great, thankyou for sharing the recipe.Hope you get a few smiles today.Safe journeys Take Care God Bless Kath xx
I agree re Presidents' Day. I liked it better when we had the 12th AND the 22d off. One remembers the dates better that way -- and hey, who does not like another day off?
