ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FEBRUARY 20TH, 2010
It's SATURDAY!
The sun is supposed to shine here for awhile again today! Yesterday had to have been the best day weather wise that we’ve had in ages and ages. So I’m hoping that today will be more of the same.
We’ve seen a significant amount of snow melt and although there is still over a foot of that white stuff in most places, the piles are not as huge as there once were.
THINKING
Lenten Lessons
Lent is a time for reflection and growth, a time of healing and hope. Lent is also an important time to review what we value and what we actually do in our everyday lives.
We can often see more clearly what our priorities are if make a list of the things we value.

1 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1 teaspoon dried leaf oregano
1 teaspoon salt
4 large hero rolls, split and buttered
8 ounces sliced mozzarella cheese
Heat vegetable oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat; sauté onion until tender. Add ground beef to skillet; brown, breaking up as it cooks. Drain off excess grease and return skillet to heat. Add tomato sauce, oregano, and salt. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
Spoon meat mixture over buttered rolls; top with cheese triangles then arrange sliced green olives or pickle slices over the cheese. Broil for 3 minutes, about 4 inches from heat source, or until cheese begins to melt.
Makes 8 open face sandwiches
PRAYERS
Heavenly Father, teach us to live more simply so that we can share our resources with the unfortunate.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
I’m just catching up on the house blessing here at my house today. Laundry and cleaning are on the list. I have a feeling that I’ll be finding my share of dust bunnies around the here. Sunny days are good for more than one thing. More light in a room means that you can see all those cobwebs in the corners too.
FAMILY
Next Saturday DD and her hubby are hosting a Party Hill Gang get together. It will be great to see the camping buddies that I’ve been missing so much all winter long. These are the great people that camp close by to us on the hill. During camping season we see a lot of each other, but not much at all during the winter, so it will be so good to catch up with what everyone’s been doing since last October.
COUNTING THE DAYS
Did you know…
The male red-winged blackbird with his showy red and yellow epaulets is a truer harbinger of spring than the robin
28 DAYS UNTIL SPRING !
55 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
40 DAYS UNTIL MA RETIRES
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
