ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FEBRUARY 14TH, 2010
It's SUNDAY!
Happy St. Valentine's Day!
Today is Valentine’s Day and National Have A Heart Day. One promotes romance, the other promotes eating your vegetables
Today is my day to get things done at home for the week ahead. I went out and shopped most of yesterday with DD. We even made it home in time to go to church yesterday evening so today is quality ‘house blessing’ time.
THINKING
There are three things that will endure--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians’ 13:13
If God loves us so, Christians are called to love in the same way
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
National Pancake Week begins today
Pancake Week is grounded in ancient tradition. During the Middle Ages, it was common practice to prepare for the austerity of Lent by purging the pantry of luxurious foods such as eggs, butter and milk. These ingredients often became big batches of pancakes
To this day, many communities around the world feast on pancakes all the way through Shrove Tuesday, also known as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, before the season of moderation begins on Ash Wednesday. In fact, another name for Fat Tuesday is Pancake Day
You can make some very special Valentine Pancakes by using your favorite recipe and adding to it 3 tbsp cocoa and 2 tbsp granulated sugar to the dry mix. To serve sprinkle them with confectioners’ sugar and some sliced strawberries.
Happy Valentines’ Day!
PRAYERS
I said a Valentine prayer for you
and asked the Lord above
to fill your heart and bless your soul
With the precious gift of love.
I asked Him for sincere love
The kind that's meant to stay
Just like the generous love
You give to those you touch each day.
I prayed for love from family
And from every cherished friend
Then I asked the Lord to give you
His love that knows no end.
Love is patient,
Love is kind.
It bears all things,
Believes all things,
Hopes all things,
Endures all things.
Love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13:4,7,8
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Even if candlelight doesn’t set the mood on Valentine’s Day, it can at least hide some of the mess in your house.
My house right now is best viewed in candle light for sure. Even though no one is here most of the time, it still needs a little TLC now and then.
We did find some terrific bargains yesterday. I think the best buy that I got was a pair of 89 dollar shoes for $5.47. It seems there were less stores than ever remaining at the outlet mall but the ones still there made it worth the trip.
FAMILY
A rose can say I Love You. . . orchids can enthrall. . .
but a weed bouquet in a chubby fist. . . OH MY that says it all!
Some of the best valentine day gifts I ever received were from my children when they were young. They would work so hard to create treasures of art that would melt any mother’s heart. I still have quite a few of those treasures hidden away in my memory boxes too.
It's not every day that I tell you
I love you...
OK, maybe it is,
But on Valentine's Day it's the law
COUNTING THE DAYS
Spread love everywhere you go: First of all in your own house... let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting

Your blogs are always full of love, but this one is so fitting for today! I can really identify with the "Family" section; I treasure the handmade cards and gifts that my children/grandchildren have given me.
