ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MAY 7TH, 2009
TODAY'S THOUGHT
When you pray, rather let your heart be without words than your words without heart
John Bunyan
JUST FOR TODAY
We all need to look for the silver linings in our day-to-day lives
Just for today, I will be happy. This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that "most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be
TODAY’S QUOTE
We must move from asking God to take care of the things that are breaking our hearts, to praying about the things that are breaking His heart
Margaret Gibb
IT’S THURSDAY !!
This is it! The last day of this work week for me. Tomorrow is one of my precious vacation days so I’ll be out at the campsite and will not have a newsletter til Monday morning for you.
I get 3 weeks of vacation a year. That narrows down to 15 days not counting the weekends. I’ve spread them through out the year with the majority being during camping season. This year will make 14 years at the same company so that makes almost 1 day of vacation for each year.
I hope your weekend is a wonderful one and that’s blessed with lots of sunshine and smiles for you!
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Please join me in praying for our country on this the National Day of Prayer.
Prayer…America’s Hope
One Prayer
One heart at a time
We can change our country
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is a National Day of Prayer, by presidential proclamation
German composer, pianist, and conductor Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) was born on this day in Hamburg, the son of a poor musician. By age 10, the child protégé supported his family with public piano concerts in dance halls
Today is International Space Day. Space Day gives you the opportunity participate in the excitement and fascination of space. It's a topic of interest to millions, old and young alike. It's a topic as broad as the universe. Former astronaut and Senator John Glenn expanded Space Day to International Space Day in 2001.
Originally started to get America's youth interested in math and science, Space Day focuses upon creating an interest and awareness of all kinds of topics and issues related to space. This holiday caught on quickly, and became wildly popular.
1789 - The first Presidential Inaugural Ball was held in New York City. Each lady in attendance received as a gift a portrait of George Washington. Actually, the ball was the first such event held for the incoming President of the United States
1941: Glenn Miller and his orchestra recorded Chattanooga Choo Choo for RCA Victor
TODAY’S SMILE
To All Moms:
This is for all the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up barf laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's OK honey, Mommy's here."
Those who walk around the house all night with their babies when they keep crying and won't stop. This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.
For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T.
This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes.
This is for all the mothers who froze their buns off on metal bleachers at football or softball games on any given night instead of watching from cars, so that when their kids asked, "Did you see me?" they could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and mean it!
This is for all the mothers who get after their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet like a tired 2-year old who wants ice cream before dinner.
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.
This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.
This is for all mothers whose heads turn automatically when a little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own off spring are at home.
This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away.
What makes a good Mother anyway?
Is it patience?
Compassion?
The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?
Or is it heart?
Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?
The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby?
The need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?
This is for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation and mature mothers learning to let go.
For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers.
Single mothers and married mothers.
Mothers with money, mothers without.
This is for you all.
So hang in there
Home is what catches you when you fall - and we all fall.
TODAY’S REFLECTION
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 91:1
No one can tell you where the shadow of the Almighty is; you must find that out for yourself. When you have found out where it is, stay there; under that shadow no evil can ever befall you. Oswald Chambers
TODAY’S ADVICE
Rub wooden furniture with lemon balm leaves to deter scratching kitties
45 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER!

Psalm 37:4
