THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.
Oprah Winfrey
I always enjoy a ride in the car or on my bicycle so I will definitely celebrate today. My ride will probably only be as far as the grocery store and I’ll be taking the car. I usually go shopping on Wednesday, but I’m trying to beat the holiday crowds. I’ll be showing you my new menu tomorrow as usual.
One of my favorite rides is going to look at the Christmas lights and that is what the pictures are of today.
I remember the Sunday drives when my family would go on long drives. Sometimes we’d wind up at relatives house, and sometimes we’d stop at the roadside rests. They always had a picnic table to sit at and the old fashioned outhouses. One Easter my sister was in one of the outhouses and bent over and lost her Easter bonnet down the toilet hole. That was one time I’ll never forget.
Many will go on long rides as they travel to be with family this week for Thanksgiving. I’ll be praying everyone makes it there safely. Some of my own family lives a few hours away so they’ll be among the holiday traffic. I’m so excited to see most of family together for the holiday, but will be missing the few that live too far away to come for the day.
I’ll be seeing the five that live in Ohio, but two live out of state and it’s not a drive they can make in one day. Every year my Ohio family rotates being the hosts for our family dinner. DD and her family will host Thanksgiving. My Ohio family decided long ago that my place was to small for all of them to gather in, so they all took over. However, a couple of years ago my son in Florida had all of us to his house for Christmas. That was another trip I’ll never forget. We left a very cold and snowy Ohio and went to the sunny warm beaches of Florida. This year the plan is that DS#5 and his family will host Christmas and he lives right here in my hometown, close by.
Today I’m thankful for desserts, especial Pumpkin Pie at Thanksgiving. I love mine topped with a big scoop of whipped cream. I have a sweet tooth and usually always have some kind of dessert after dinner even if it is only ice cream. Desserts always top off a perfect meal for me and I made them for my children when they were home. You didn’t get dessert if you didn’t eat of of your dinner. It was an incentive for them to clean up their plates. Sometimes dessert can be as simple as a piece of chocolate which I always try to have each day. Nothing beats dessert after dinner.
Each day this week is warming up a little more here and Thanksgiving Day is promising to be in the 50’s and sunny so the roads should be clear and fine for traveling. Enjoy the ride !
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
Life is a pretty awesome ride.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
10,812. for a long ride on a sunny day
10,813. for Thanksgiving Day with family
10,814.for my car which is working fine now, I just don’t drive after dark.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The truth is you don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow. Life is a crazy ride, and nothing is guaranteed.
Eminem
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I use to love to "go for a ride" but living in a busy city just going out is nerve racking with all the traffic and people and especially close to a holiday.
We are going for a ride tomorrow - to Ohio!
Yes, I remember the days when, if my dad didn't have to hurry home from church and go to work he'd take mom and me for a drive. Sometimes it would be to look at new model homes; others, to look at the holiday decorations. Most of the time, simply aimless.
I love when you share holiday memories, and your sis losing her Easter bonnet tops it all!
While the locations and place settings change from year to year, I think it's all about being around our loved ones and enjoying their company. Time is so fleeting!
