THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A teddy bear does not depend upon mechanics to give him the semblance of life. He is loved - and therefore he lives.
Pam Brown
I happen to have a teddy bear here that is a part of my fall decorations so I am able to hug a bear today. There used to be a lot of bears in my house that belonged to my kids, but when I moved I ask them to take them home with them, or I would give them away.
I had to cut back on everything I owned and take only what was necessary. I gave away many bears that I collected for my self. There is a lot of comfort in hugging a cuddly teddy bear.
Today I’m thankful for my faith. It is something that was passed on to me from my parents and grandparents. My maternal Grandmother particular. She was a Sunday school teacher and gave me my first Bible. She believed that Sunday is a day of rest and firmly believed that no work be done on Sundays. For her, it was to be a day of going to church and visiting with any family that happened to visit.
I remember when she was teaching me to sew, I wanted to work on it one Sunday and she said no, no work on Sunday. I was disappointed at the time but now as an adult I am thankful to have a day of rest on Sunday.
Thanks to that, I’m a better person on Monday. I’m rested and refreshed for another work week. Although I don’t go out to a regular job now I’m retired. There is still work I must do here at my house every day. Laundry, cleaning and caring for my house and my yard.
Today is a day to cook up something new here and on the menu today is:
Stuffed Pepper Soup
Makes 8 servings
2 lbs ground beef
6 cups water
1 can, 28 oz. tomato sauce
1 can, 28 oz, diced tomatoes, undrained
2 cups chopped green peppers
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. beef bouillon granules
2 cups cooked long grain rice
chopped fresh parsley, optional
In a Dutch over medium heat, cook and stir beef until no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles; drain. Stir in next 8 ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, uncovered, until peppers are tender.
Add cooked rice and simmer uncovered, 10 minutes longer. If desired sprinkle with chopped parsley.
I’m going to make some Cheddar Biscuits to have with my soup today. Otherwise it doesn’t need much else to complete my meal. You could even add a grilled cheese sandwich if you wanted to.
It’s a lot cooler this week, at least to start out. with temps in the 50’s, but sunny. They say come Thursday, we'll be back up to 70 degrees. But come the weekend, we’ll be looking at temps in the 40’s. Brrchill!
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week! Happy Monday!
A bear teaches us that if the heart is true, it doesn’t matter much if and ear drops off.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

10,771. for hot soup on a chilly day
10,772.for sunshine, it always makes me smile
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
It’s too bad we’re not all teddy bears. More stuffing would only make us cuter and cuddlier.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Teddy bears are very lovable and huggable ! Hug a Teddy Bear today !
Hug a Bear Day - who knew - what I found interesting is that the Egyptians invented them and had them too.
Good history and family lessons today. We have several teddy's in NC home, a couple stuffed toys in the MH. BUT you reminded me of my youth about Sunday. There was a time all stores were closed on Sundays. Most towns had one Gas station that opened at noon. Amazing how things have changed.
Love & Thanks from here, great read.

Oh ama, your first paragraph made me laugh out loud! I have my father's first little teddy bear (can 1912-13) and it appears to be filled with straw. Fragile, but precious!
Lovely post …teddy bears are the best ! Thank you, xo, V.
