THOUGHT FOR TODAY
On cable TV, they have a weather channel— 24 hours of weather. We had something like that where I grew up. We called it a window.

Thankfully, I got to celebrate with this granddaughter yesterday when I went to a birthday dinner for her. I was able to give her a birthday card in person, as well as lots of love and hugs.
Although I don’t watch much TV, it is always on here at my house. The background noise makes me feel more secure somehow, and not so alone. I’d rather be reading a good book than watching a movie any day.
I do appreciate the fact that I have a window antenna that allows me get the local news stations. Before I got that I only had streaming services like Netflix and Prime Video. There is no cable TV offered here in our community.
I’m thankful that I can get the weather and other informational news, like traffic accidents, road conditions and much more.
We cannot believe everything we see on TV, but most of the news stations are reliable.
The kids used to tell me I should be using this or that detergent when doing my wash, it was then I told them you can’t believe everything you see on TV. The same went when they started watching soap operas during summer vacation. My daughter used to get so upset when she would watch them, I had to tell here it was just a show and was all acting, not real.
Many complain about the programming done on the stations, but my answer to that is to simply not watch it. They won’t show shows that are not popular. I do love PBS television programs, many are very educational, including the children’s shows. And I watch Good Morning America every morning.
Today is one of the days of the week I cook up something new and on the menu today is:
Italian Wedding Soup
Makes 6 servings
4 Tbsp. olive oil, divided
1 1/3 cups chopped onion
2/3 cup chopped carrot
2/3 cup chopped celery
2 Tbsp. minced garlic
6 cups chicken broth
6 oz. small pasta, like acini de pepe pasta
1 tsp. oregano.
1/2 tsp. salt
24 cooked turkey meatballs
4 cups baby spinach
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Heat 1 Tbsp. oil in a large pot over medium high heat. Add onion, carrot, celery and garlic; cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is translucent, 4 to 5 minutes.
Add broth, cover and bring to a boil. Add pasta, oregano, and salt; cover and cook until pasta is tender.
Stir in meatballs and spinach; cook until the meatballs are heated through and the spinach is wilted.
Serve sprinkled with cheese.
Although it is getting warmer here today with temps in the 40’s instead of the 20’s, it will still be good day for some hot soup. It looks like we’ll be this way for most of the week, even reaching 50 degrees on Thursday they say. I’m thankful we are finally out of the deep freeze. It was way too early in the season to be that cold. We don’t usually see low temps like that until mid January. 40’s are much more normal.
Today I’m thankful for leaves. There is all kinds of them on the ground outside my house right now. They make good fertilizer for the lawn especially when they’ve been mulched up. It’s looking like that won’t be done until spring time here.
I also love the leaves when they appear on the trees in the Spring time and all during the summer when they provide a lot of shade on my house. Leaves are very beneficial.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
Thanks to the television, we can watch the news and see what is going on in different parts of the world.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
The most corrosive piece of technology that I’ve ever seen is called television, but then again, television, at is best is magnificent.

It's a new week, a fresh start and a clean slate. It's a new beginning to make the most of life.
I must say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Cutie Patootie!
TV was not part of my childhood of course, but it was part of our sons' lives. The first one I ever saw had a 6" screen. My borther was a trucker and he bought it in NYC on a trip up that way. There were no TV stations around there, so we actually sat and watched the test pattern. LOL
Thanks for kicking in some memories and a little history lesson...
Sherry & jack we are up to 62 down here. WOW!
Another birthday - Happy Birthday to our Cutie Patootie!
I have to admit I love tv. And I am like you I like noise on. My hubs does not like sound so we do have our disagreements. lol
Steve Job knew the destruction tv and phones made on kids.
Indeed! That first photo of Cutie made me giggle out loud! We, too, pretty much keep our television on all day usually on the Newsmax channel. PBS is excellent, too, especially the concerts.
I must admit, I do like my TV!
That soup sounds good!
I really love the leaves too, we mulch as much as we can.
Happy 😊 Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁
