ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 29TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is the first Sunday of Advent which is fourth Sunday before Christmas Day. This is the Sunday nearest to St. Andrew’s Day and the Sunday following the feast of Christ the King, it can fall on any date between November 27th and the 3rd of December.
The theme of the teachings during Advent is to prepare for the Second Coming while commemorating the first Coming of Christ at Christmas. With the view of directing thoughts of Christians to the first coming of Jesus Christ as savor and his second coming as judge, special readings are prescribed each of the four Sundays in Advent.
In recent times the most common observance of Advent has been keeping an advent calendar with one door being opened in the calendar on each day in December leading up to Christmas Eve. The keeping of an Advent wreath is also common practice , with four or 5 candles extending from the wreath. The colors associated with the candles are variously interpreted. The color for Advent is purple . There are 3 purple candles in the wreath and one pink. Sometimes a white one is placed in the middle to represent Christmas Day.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
At this Christmas when Christ comes, will he find a warm heart? Mark the season Advent by loving and serving the others with God’s own love and concern.
Mother Teresa
Advent above all else is a season of preparation. Preparing our hearts and minds to receive the blessings of Christmas, the birth of Christ.
Today I’ve decided to watch services on line for church. I’m going to stay safe at home and relax. Yesterday was a busy day and it’s true what they say, turkey makes us feel a bit sleepy. I’m ready for a good Sunday nap. There are plenty of leftovers in the fridge to eat and I’m comfy and cozy here on a cold but sunny day. They say we may get some snow later on this week, and I’m not ready for it. I don’t want to deal with slippery sidewalks and driveways. I’ve got a hard time just getting around as it is.
I did get my Christmas cards when I was out shopping last week so today may be a good day to get started on addressing those. I’ll need to pick up more stamps before I can get them out in the mail though. My preparations are going to include, cards, decorating and lots of good food in the coming days. Tis the season to remember the reason for Season.
While we are self isolating, there’s going to be plenty of time to do just that. The pictures today of more past family gatherings, blogger is still not letting me add new pictures, and I did have plenty of them to share too.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
