ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23RD, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Expresso Day which celebrates the invention of the Espresso coffee machine in 1901 by Luigi Bezzera. His objective was to decrease the employee’s coffee break time and increase their productivity. Bezzera’s machine used steam pressure to force hot water through the finely ground coffee. This allowed coffee to be be prepared quickly on demand by the cup. The resulting brew of coffee was also stronger in flavor and body. Bezzera’s patent was sold in 1903 to Desidero Pavoni who began commercially producing and distributing the espresso machine throughout Europe
Today espresso is a popular drink in cafes all around the world . To celebrate, support your favorite coffe hope with a to go order or make your own using an espresso machine like the one that was invented.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Even a bad coffee is better than no coffee at all.
David Lynch
I don’t have an espresso machine, but they are available to buy for home use now, I have a Keurig coffee maker and enjoy that. I do get my ooffe one cup at a time and pretty fast too. It may not be as strong as espresso coffee, but it does the job just fine.
On the menu for today is:
Spicy Touchdown Chilli
makes 12 servings
1 lb ground beef
1 lb. bulk pork sausage
2 cans, 16 oz. kidney beans rinsed and drained
2 cans, 14 oz. diaed tomatoes, undrained
8 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
1 onion, chopped
1/4 cup chili powder
1/4 cup chopped jalapeno, opetional
2 tsp. cumin
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp dried basil
3/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Optional : shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream and chopped green onions.
In a large skillet cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink, breaking into crumbles; drain. Transfer to a slow cooker. Repeat with the sausage.
Stir in the rest of the ingredients except the optional, sour cream, cheese and onions. Cook covered on low 4 to 5 hours or until heated through. If desired top with shredded cheese, sour cream and chopped green onions when serving.
I always leave out the jalopenas out since I like my food less spicy. This is not my regular chili recipe, but I thought is would be fun to try something new.
We’re to be in the low 40’s here today so a bowl of chili will hit the spot. Always good to take the chill off.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!

Your chili sounds perfect for the weather you are having, enjoy!
I do love a good cup of espresso! Your chili recipe sounds really yummy. I never thought about putting both burger and sausage meat ... bacon, too! Someday soon I'm going to have to make room in our freezer to accommodate the soups and stews on my 'to-do' list.
We have supplies and a crock pot. It can be done.
I appreciate the prayer for our troops, EMT, police and fire men. It says it all.
My hubby likes espresso; I'm not a huge fan :) Yum on the chili!
betty
No espresso for me, just plain coffee. That chili sounds interesting but spicy hot.
