ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!!

Today is Black Friday which is the official kickoff to the holiday shopping season. If you want to avoid the crowds, begin your shopping from your couch and send holiday cards to your friends and family. Encourage them to shop on this retail holiday by including a gift card as well. The name Black Friday comes from the accounting terms, in the red and in the black. Retailers hail the day after Thanksgiving as the turning point in the year, when they transition from the red to the black, making a profit.
Many retailers traditionally open their stores early to accomodate all of the people that camp out in the parking lot the night before to take advantage of the holiday sales. Although Black Friday is the biggest day for shopping traffic, it is not always the day with the most sales. That distinction typically belongs to the last Saturday before Christmas. 66% of the shoppers say they shop for themselves on Black Friday. Happy Shopping !
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Only in American do people trample others for sales exactly one day after being thankful for what they already have.

I won’t be going out shopping today. I want to avoid any sort of crowd so will stay in and do my shopping later on. I’ve just about decided to do gift cards anyway. We’ll see…
I usually give out homemade gifts that I’ve painted for everyone, but this year I couldn’t find any inspiration to do so. So that a means I’ll have some shopping to do..
Today I’ll be making pasta salad and the pumpkin cheese cake parfait to take to our family Thanksgiving and dinner for tonight is going to be on the simple side with
Cuban Stromboli
5 oz. whole wheat pizza dough
4 thin slices swiss cheese
4 slices alami
3 slices deli ham
3 slice deli turkey
1 dill pickle spear, quartered lengthwise
1 egg yolk
1 tsp water
1 pinch sesame seeds for garnish
2 tbsp. mustard for serving
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Roll out dough o lightly floured surface into a 12 by 6 inch rectangle. Layer on Swiss, salami, ham, turkey and pickle
Roll up starting at a long edge, roll up into a tight roll, pinching seams together. Place on baking sheet. Cut a few slits on top. Whisk egg yolk and water in a small bowl and brush over the top. Sorinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
Bake until golden, about 15 minutes. Slice and serve with mustard, if desired.
This can also be served as a fun party snack that’s easy to make
I hope you all enjoy the day and stay safe at home, shopping on line is safe and easy.
Today’s pictures are of last year when we all went shopping together as a family.
I hope you all have a a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Thank God were living in a country where the sky’s the limit, the stores are open late and you can shop in bed thanks to television.
Joan Rivers
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
8684.for a day with lots of sales
8685.for a simple dinner
8686. for another day at home, safe and sound
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

I'll miss being with family on a traditional shopping trip but it is safer at home.
I agree with you, no in store shopping for me this year. My family had decided last month that we would just do a white elephant exchange and leave it at that, yesterday they changed their minds and decided we will do a regular gift exchange with a $20 per person limit. Luckily there are only six of us total. I guess I'll be spending this afternoon doing my shopping on Amazon. Enjoy your family Thanksgiving celebration tomorrow!
I agree. Black Friday bargains or not, I wouldn't be comfortable among crowds of shoppers. I'm going the GC route with my own grands this year. Plus, shipping costs have begun to skyrocket. I had to take a birthday gift to the PO this morning and nearly fainted when she said, $14.44 ... this, for a padded envelope containing a book. One book. Geesch. (*smile*)
What you are bringing for your family Thanksgiving gathering sounds delicious Ma! I'm just doing cash this year for the few people I have to "buy" for and gift cards for a few others. Hubby was grocery shopping at Wal-Mart this morning and said it was crowded so plenty of people out there getting a head start on holiday shopping.
