ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is the Beginning of Meteorological Autumn 2020. which is all about harvest, golden leaves connected to many feasts such as Halloween and Thanksgiving. Often the beginning of fall is a time a changes in the weather, cold fronts make the temperature sink. But when autumn coms along with warm and sunny days and cool nights people call that Indian Summer.
The meteorological seasons are structured according to the months of the year and always start on the fist day of the month. On the Northern Hemisphere September, October and November belong to autumn. Wheras from the astronomic point of view Autumn starts with the moment of the autumn equinox.
Fall represents two antagonistic moods, which are both referred to in lyric and arts. On the one hand it is all about dark moods, days getting shorter, spooky Halloween and so on, and on the other hand they talk about the golden season, time of harvest and beauty. The beginning of the metterological autumn exists ever since the first documentation of the weather in the 19th century.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There comes a time when autumn asks,
what have you been doing all summer?
As far as fall goes, there are leaves starting to fall from the trees, but otherwise, it looks and feels quite like summer here. So I’ve been busy decorating for fall here at my house and that is what the pictures are of today. There are no colorful leaves on the trees yet, but they are here scattered throughout the inside of the house. I got my first mum plant the other day and sat it outside in my pumpkin face flower pot. It looks as the colorful flowers are the hair on the pumpkin face.
On the menu for today is:
Panko Crusted Pork Chops with Asian Slaw
Makes 4 servings
1 egg
1 tsp. hot sauce, optional
1/2 tsp ground pepper, divided
3’4 cup whole wheat panko breadcrumbs
4 boneless loin chops , trimmed
3 tbsp. rice vinegar
2 tbs avocado oil
1 tbsp. mayonaiase
1 tsp grated ginger
1/8 tsp salt
3 c. shredded cabbage
2 cups sliced snow peas
1 cup diced red bell pepper
2 scallons, sliced
Preheat oven to 450 degrees . Coat a rack with cooking spray and place it on a rimmed baking sheet.
Whisk egg, hot sauce, if desired, and 1/4 tsp pepper in shallow dish Place panko in a 2nd dish. Coat each chop with egg mixture then dredge in panko. Place the chops on the wire rack and coat both sides with cooking spray. Bake until just cooked through about 15 to 18 minutes.
Meanwhile whisk vinegar, mayonnaise, ginger, salt and remaining 1/4 tsp pepper in a large bowl. Add the cabbage, snow peas, bell pepper and scallions and toss to coat well. serve with the pork chops with slaw.
The high heat oven lends a satisfying crispness to pork chops without frying. and the slaw with the Asian flavor makes this a healthy 400 calorie meal that’s ready in under an hour.
I opted to use white vinegar and olive oil in mine instead of what’s on the recipe. I don’t think it will make a big difference in the flavor.
I recently tried to purchase a small chest freezer on line and that turned out to be a disaster. It came sooner than the expected delivery but when we turned it on it didn’t work. Now it says I can’t return it because it hasn’t been delivered yet. But in fact it is here and doesn’t work. What a bother, I won’t be ordering another on line, I’ll go out and get one locally. Either my son or SIL can help me get one home.
That’s the news from home for today. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
When the goldenrod is yellow,
And leaves are turning brown
Reluctantlys the summer goes
In a cloud of thistle down.
When squirrels are harvesting
And birds in flight appear-
By these autumn signs we know
September days are here.
Beverly Ashour, September
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Autumn days are here...
I love your autumn decor, so festive. Enjoy your delicious dinner this evening. Happy September :)
I've often said, I hope Heaven looks like Autumn. :) Will be on the lookout for a new mum plant ... just as soon as our temps loosen their grip on Summer. I don't know if it's even a 'thing' anymore, but I remember girls getting these enormous mum corsages to wear to Homecoming football games.
Nice fall decorations! What a hassle about the freezer! Can't believe we are already in the month of September!
