ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!!

Today is National Punch Day which celebrates a beverage originally made with five ingredients - spirits, lemon, sugar water and tea.
The word punch allegedly comes from the Hindustani word pinch which means five. In the early 1600’s sallors and enployees of the British East India Company brought a new exotic drink from India to England.
The recipe for punch spread from country to country and became one of the most popular party drinks in the world. Today there are hundreds of different punch recipes. Many of them still incorporate the five key ingredients: alcohol, citrus, sugar, water and spice.
Mix up your favorite concoction today to celebrate National Punch Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It’s not about going to a party. It’s life as a party.
Diane Von Furstenberg
I have an old punch bowl here at my house and use it often for parties. My favorite punch is made with apple cranberry juice, ginger ale and sherbet. When you put the sherbet in the mixture and stir it around, it will froth up and we call it frothy slosh.
The pictures today are of my punch bowl, no punch, that is stored away here for special occasions. It is a special occasion today and I’m not sure if there will be punch or not. That’s up to DD. I’ll be going to church first because it’s my grandson’s first communion and then we’ll gather at their house afterward for lunch and cake.
I haven’t been to an actual church in months due to the coronavirus. So that makes it a special occassion all in itself. I’ve been watching the services on line instead. But I’m thrilled to be able to go today.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The grace of God means something like: Heres you life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn’t have been complete without you.
Frederick Buechner
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

GOD BLESS YOU!

Life is a party and we're all invited !
I too have a punch bowl set stored away but must say it has only been used just a few times, one being my wedding:) So happy you can go to church today. We have been going for four weeks now and even though we have to social distance and wear masks it has been so nice to worship corporately.
That is a nice looking punch set Ma!! Great you will be in church worshiping today and seeing your grandson take his First Communion. It is always great to be in the house of the Lord among fellow believers! Have a fun day with the gathering afterwards!

I vaguely recall my mother having a pretty bowl like yours ... but never seeing it used. Congratulations to your grandson on this Important Step in his life; I hope you're having fun making memories!
Congrats to your grandson and enjoy church and the family celebration today!
