ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!!

Today is National Comic Book Day which honors the creative and inventive books that have been entertaining children and adults alike for more than 200 years.
While comic books have quite a storied history, they reached massive popularity in the late 1900’s. By the mid 1940’s, comic books were outselling traditional books. Thousands of comic book characters have been developed over the years, many of which have inspired numerous television shows and blockbuster movies.
To celebrate today take a few minutes to catch up on your favorite comic or watch a movie based on your favorite series.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Superheroes were born in the minds of people desperate to be rescued.
Jodi Picoult
Although some of my sons were comic book collectors, the only comics I read these days are the ones found in the newspaper. And that is what today’s pictures are of. There is not a comic book to be found around my house anymore. The boys took them with them. Some were worth money, but most were not. The things I’ve collected over the years are much different than theirs.
I collect a lot of recipes and cook books and today’s recipe is another new one for me.
Fish Tacos with Coleslaw and Chipotle Sauce
makes 6 servings
Coleslaw
4 c, coleslaw mix or shredded carrots and cabbage
2 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tbsp honey
1/8 tsp salt
Fish
2 lbs white fish fillet such as tilapia
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp paprika
salt to taste
Chipoltle Sauce
1 chipotle pepper in adobe sause, seeds removed
1/2 cup greek yogurt
2 tbsp mayonaise
salt to taste
Coleslaw
Mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl. Cover and chill until time to serve
Fish
Drizzle olive oil and both sides of fillets, using fingers to cover all the pieces. . Sprinkle with chili powder and paprika and a little salt on each piece
Grill on top of lightly greased piece of foil until done. This keeps fish from sticking to the grill. Flip fish halfway through cooking. Alternatiely you can bake in the oven at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Until cooked through.
To serve: toast corn tortillas in a cast iron pan. Let every one serve themselves by topping the tortilla with grilled fish, Coleslaw and a drizzle of Chipotle Yogurt Sauce.
I happened to have some coleslaw on hand that I got at the grocery store, so I don;t have to make my own making this recipe easy peasy.
We’re to have another beautiful fall day here with temps near 80 degrees so I’m hoping to get out and get some exercise. A ride around the park on my bake should do it. The weekend looks to be just as nice, so it’s a good time to get out and about .I hope to get some pictures of the homes that have decorated for fall. Hopefully I can show them tomorrow.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. The weather is beautiful here in Ohio.
Those were funny cartoons. I liked reading the comics in the paper when we got the paper. Lots of humor there. Your fish tacos sound delicious Ma. Hubby made some a few weeks back using cod fish. They came out very tasty! Enjoy your weekend! Glad the weather will be nice for it!

Your fish tacos sound fantastic! Enjoy your bike ride and the beautiful weather. Have a great weekend :)
We no longer get the newspaper ..... but I remember like it was yesterday splitting the comic section with my mother. Dagwood, Beetle Bailey, Hi & Lois were my favorites. Hers was Dick Tracy; I've no idea how I remember that. Don't recall Archie and Jughead being in the paper, but I loved those comic books.
I hope you were able to take that bike ride today!
I love the FUNNIES!!!
My Dad's favorite was "Snuffy SMith". He was so upset when they took it out of the newspaper! It showed "hillbilly" people and he loved that! (He would have been called that, I am sure.)
Take care!
