ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Pecan Day which commemortes the planting of pecan trees by George Washington on the Mount Vernon estate March 25th, 1775. The pean tree sapling was gifted to him by Thomas Jefferson who had planted a few pecan trees from the southern U.S. at Monticello, VA. The pecan, native to southern North American is sometimes called America’s own nut. First cultivated by Native Americans, it has been transplanted to other countries but has failed to achieve wide use or popularity outside the US.
There are many ways people can show their love for pecans- like grabbing a handful to munch on, adding them to salads, making a pecan pie, eating pecan crusted fish for dinner or having pecan ice cream.
Pecans a wonderful party snack that can be served in a variety of styles such as popular praline- flavored pecans.
To celebrate plant a pecan tree to make it a memorable day to always come back to.
Today is also Waffle Day and Tolkien Reading Day
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Todays mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut, that held its ground.
David Icke
Pecans are my favorite nut 2nd only to Walnuts. I use both for baking and my favorite way to enjoy pecans is in a Turtle Sundae which is made with vanilla icecream and topped with chocolate syrup, caramel and pecans. It’s a very flavorful combination and I also enjoy turtle candy too.
Todays recipe is for making turtle candy.
Turtle Candy
60 whole pecans
30 caramels
30 chocolate kisses
Place 2 pecans together length wise on a baking sheet. Place a caramel on pecans. Bake at 200 degrees for 5 minutes, or until caramel has partially melted. Place a chocolate kiss over the melted caramel and let chocolate melt a little. Let cool before serving.
They are delicious!
The week continues and I’m get a little done each day but today I woke up to sunshine for the first time in a while so I’m hoping to get out for that walk I promised myself a few days ago. It’s to be 49 for a high today so a little warmer than we have been too.
I need the exercise as I’ve been sitting and reading way too much.
I Hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

Pecans are my favorite nut, always good with caramel and chocolate !
Ummm, pecans are so tasty! I alternate between them and walnuts on my salads (v. croutons). I can't remember where they came from, but getting a box turtle candy on the holidays used to be a big deal. It's supposed to be near 90* this week … and already, too warm to walk. That's my excuse, anyway, lol.
Hope you got out for that walk Ma! Yum on that turtle candy!! I too like pecans; healthy to munch on!
