ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Johnny Appleseed Day ;which celebrates Johnny Appleseed for introducing apple trees to the United States. Make sure to incorporate apples into your menu today!
John Chapmen, known as Johnny Appleseed was an American nurseryman traveling west. Through his journey he planted apple seeds, creating trees in many states such as Pennsyvania, Ohio, Indiana, illinois and West Virgina. He was also known for his generosity , love for animals and religion, and his preaching. This holiday celebrates the date of his death. Johnny Appleseed Day is also celebrated on September 26th as well, to commemberate his birthday.
So today we honor this American legend by enjoying an apple, a caramel apple, applesauce, or Apple cider. Bake a crisp or apple pe for a delightful dessert or plant an apple tree.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Surely the apple is noblest of fruits.
Henry David Thoreau
I do love apples and have them often. If I don’t have apples, I’ll have applesauce and often make my own. That is what the recipe is for today.
Easy Aplesauce
Make 4 servings
4 apples pared, cored and sliced.
3/4 c. water
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Combine apples water, sugar and cinnamon on a sauce pan.. Cover and cook over medium high heat for 15 to 20 minutes. Allow to cool, them mash with a fork nor potato masher.
It’s an excellent side dish for most any meal. They say an apple a day keeps the doctor and it’s true they are very good for you and eating the is linked to a lower risk of many major diseases, including diabetes and cancer. What’s more it’s soluble fiber content may promote weight loss and gut health. For the greatest benefits, eat the whole fruit, both skin and flesh. They also can keep you more alert. If eaten as an afternoon or evening snack, apples might supply us so much steady energy we might not feel tired enough at bedtime. So brew yourself a hot mug of Chamomile tea if you’re concerned that the apple pie you had for dinner might keep you awake half the night.
Peanut butter and apples is the ultimate comfort food. If this is one of your favorite snacks you are in luck. healthy fats like those found in peanut butter can help kick your body into sleep mode. So beware of what you are snacking on.
Today would have also been DDH’s birthday, he was a wonderful husband and father to my children. He didn’t plant any trees, but he loved the outdoors. He is missed by all and it’s been many years since is death. I’ve now lived more years without him, than I had with him.
I hope you all have WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Anyone can count the seeds in a apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed.
Robert H. Schuller
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

7926. For DDH, it would have been his birthday

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!

Apples are good and good for you too.
Your and your hubby's birthdays were close together. Was it the same year you were born? I love apples! Always a tasty treat!

I recall, as a kid, singing a song about Johnny Appleseed. Quite the folk hero for a child!
Oh my, those anniversaries of our heart! I think, talking about our loved ones and sharing their stories is the sweetest way we can honor them.
The picture of the little one with the apple is precious. I love peanut butter and apples:)
