ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR TUESDAY, MARCH 10TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is International Find a Pay Phone Booth Day which celebrates the anniversary of the date Aleaxander Graham Bell made the world’s first telephone call on March 10 , 1876. In the 1990’s , before cell phones became so popular, there were an estimated 3,000, 000 pay phone booths in the United States.
The arrival of cell phones spelled death for millions of phone booths. Yet remarkably, a few are still around and working.
If you find one today, place a quarter in the slot and call someone, but be quick about it. The quarter pays for three minutes. If you want to talk longer it will cost you another quarter for just 3 additional minutes.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The day will come when the man at at the telephone will be able to see the distant person to whom he is speaking.
Alexander Graham Bell
I do remember using pay phones. It was the only way we could keep in touch when out and about and you needed to call someone. We are so spoiled now with cell phones, we can make a call anywhere, any time. I also remember when ;our phones were all land lines and sometimes we had to share the line, called a party line, with other people. There were usually at least two or three others on the same telephone line. It was really special when we got a private line all of our own. How things have changed. I no longer have a land line, only a cell phone. I figure one telephone is all I needed so I discontinued the land line years ago when I got my first cell phone.
Hard to believe they are now a part of nostalgia, memories of days gone by.
We are having some spring showers today so it’s going to be a good day to stay in and keep dry today. But I have plenty to do so that when the weather is nice I can get outside and not worry about housework.
Thanks to our Princess I do have a picture of a telephone booth today and thanks to my daughter for the door hanging she gave me for my birthday that says hello! She made it herself. She is very talented! The rest of my pictures today are of my Easter decorations. DS#6 carried the other stuff out to the storage shed when he was here on Sunday. Finally the Valentines and snow flakes are all packed away.
I hope you all have TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The news of life is carried via telephone. A baby’s birth, a couple engaged, a tragic car accident on a light night highway - most milestones of the human journey, good or bad are foreshowed by the sound of a ringing.
Mitch Albom
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7922 for the convenience of a cell phone,
7923. for a dry home protecting me from the rain
7924. for plenty of memories of days gone by
.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Utility is when you have one telephone, luxury is when you have two and paradise is when you have none.
Doug Larson
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Say Hello today and give thanks for the telephone!
Woah! I haven't seen a pay phone in so long; now I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled and take a selfie. Ha. That's crazy about a quarter getting you only 3 minutes. I remember when my mother would call her parents long distance she'd set a little 3-minute hourglass by the phone. Oh, the things we take for granted! Hubby was reluctant not to do away with a landline, but I'd wager he hasn't given it a second thought these last two years.
Love your new door hanger .. that's beautiful!
Wow spring is just around the corner! I can't remember the last time I used a pay phone. Times sure have changed!
