ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, MARCH 28TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today we celebrate Earth Hour 2020, which is annual Environmental compaign that brings attention to the effects of climate change by asking people to turn off their non essential lights for one hour as a commitment to the planet. Earth hour is a world wide movement for the planet organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature. We should shut our lights off for an hour starting at 8:30 pm local time, usually the last Saturday of March
It was started as a lights off event in Sydney, Austrailia in 2007. Since then Earth Hour has grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns world wide and the one hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement to stop degradation of the Earth's natural environment and to focus on building a future where people live in harmony with nature.
Some people enjoy Earth Hour with a candle lit dinner to celebrate Earth Hour Day.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Don’t count the days, make the days count.
Mohammad Ali
I for one, wouldn’t mind a candle lit dinner tonight. It’s very relaxing. I do what I can to live in harmony with nature and am very happy to say I’ve been out walking for 2 days in a row now. Outside in nature is my favorite place to be. The pictures today are my walk on Thursday. I walked up to our community center and was surprised to see the playground and pavilions all roped off with yellow safely tape. They want everyone to stay at a safe distance and stay away from those areas.
I only passed two people out walking like I was and we only waved to say hello. One thing is for sure, I definitely enjoyed the fresh air, but there was very little sunshine. Today we’ll see even less. Rain has moved in and so I’ll be staying in and keeping dry. No more walking until the next sunny day.
I heard from DS#2 yesterday and they are both working from home now and are thankfully doing ok. They’ve had enough rain there and DDIL#2 was going out to mow the grass, but the pollen is very heavy in their area and that makes it difficult for her allergies. She said one of her neighbors is making face masks for a children’s hospital there and she’d ordered one from her and will send me one when she can get them We have no pollen here yet and no allergens in the air that I know of. Nothing is blooming or growing here yet, but according to the buds on the trees, it won’t be long now.
I was to have gone to their house for my Spring break but not now. It’s not a good time to travel and my break, like that of many others, has had to be cancelled.
When the babes were young and still in school our spring break used to be a trip to downtown Cleveland on Good Friday,we were all off that day, where we’d walk around and enjoy all the sights, that won’t be happening this year either. All of us are restricted and need to stay home. Thank goodness I can at least get out for a walk around the neighborhood.
As usual I’m cooking for the weekend today and I’ve decided to make
Crockpot Kielbasa and Kraut
1 or 2 packages of kielbasa sausage depending on how much meat you want
2 lb bag of sauerkraut
1 medium onion sliced thin, optional
2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
1 tbsp. butter
Butter the crockpot , Slice the kielbasa into 1 inch pieces and put in bottom of the crockpot. layer sliced onion on top of sausage Sprinkle on the brown sugar or drizzle honey if you are using it. Pour the sauerkraut over top with the juices. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 8 hours
You can also make fake rubin sandwiches with this mixture along with a slice of swiss cheese on top of the sausage and kraut on rye bread. Then grilling the sandwich like you usually would.
I hope you have a SUPER Saturday!

Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
I have one life and one chance to make it count for something… My faith demands that I do whatever I can, where I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.

Don't forget to shut off your lights tonight at 8:30 pm for one hour.
I'd forgotten about the Earth Hour observance! When I was working at the resort, that was a Big Deal and the activities staff would try to engage our guests. Candlelight makes everything a little nicer, doesn't it?
Because we're having a dickens of a time with the pollen -- and I love supporting individuals who sew/craft -- I'm going to check out Etsy about home-made masks. (Either that, or if you feel comfortable sharing that info about the lady who's making yours, would you send me a PM at myra.guca@gmail.com). Thanks!
You don't have any pollen? Would you like some of OURS??? :) Everything is coated with it here.
I'm glad to hear you and your family are all faring well. I just heard from #1 son that he and his family have been exposed to the virus. His sister-in-law dropped her daughter off at his house to spend time with his kids. What she didn't tell him until after the fact was that she'd been sick and had been tested for COVID-19 that same day. Well, the results came in, and she has it. Good chance her daughter has it, too, so our son, daughter-in-law and their four children will likely end up with it, too. I don't reckon we'll be visiting with them for a while.
Take care.
I will light a candle tonight and turn off the lights for that hour. Good for you to continue your walking routine Ma. Public playgrounds are still open here but not too many kids playing on them. Hopefully you will get to see DDS2 and his family some time later this year.
