ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Chili Day! Whether you prefer it Texas style, Mexican Style or vegetarian, chili served with a side of cornbread is a fabulous comfort food for the winter season.
Despite popular belief chili doesn’t come from Mexico. The recipe has been influenced by Mexican culture but also incorporates elements from Native American and Spanish culinary traditions. Many historians believe chili originated in Texas where all three of these cultures intersect.
According to legend Spanish priests call the first Chili the soup of the Devil because they believe that chili peppers were an aphrodisiac. To celebrate Chili Day indulge in a delicious bowl of this spicy stew.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It’s Spring fever. That is what the name of it is . And when you’v got it, you want to— oh, you don’t quite know what it is you want. but it just fairly makes your heart ache.
Mark Twain
It’s a great day for chili here in northern Ohio. We have snow and it’s very cold out. We’re right around 20 degrees now for a couple of days, but not to worry. This weather roller coaster ride is still going and by Sunday they say we’lll be close to 50. Winter keeps trying to stick around, but it’s not winning. I’m thinking Spring!
It’s looking like I’ll probably have to get my exercise today and shovel some snow which is the main reason I dislike winter so. I’ve already heard the snow plow go by here this morning so my street and most streets will be clear. So there won’t be any snow days for the kids in school or the teachers either. Every one was hoping to get one. But it’s a great day to bundle up and keep warm and have a hot bowl of chili. I still have leftover gumbo here, so that’s what I’ll be having.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I enjoy the spring more than the autumn now. One does, I think, as one gets older.
Virginia Woolf
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7898 for a warm and cozy house
7899. for plenty to eat, no need to cook more
7900. warm boots, gloves and coats
.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Think Spring!
It looks like we're experiencing the last cold days of the season today and tomorrow. So yes, chili sounds mighty good! Hormel's "no bean" variety is practically a staple in our cupboard. Be careful out there, won't you!
Chili is always a good food for winter and the cold weather that comes with it. I think all kids hope there will be a snow day whenever there is snow falling (probably teachers hope the same thing LOL). Spring is just around the corner Ma!
