ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Valentines Day which is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending out Valentine cards, presenting flowers, or offering candy. The holiday is named after two Early Christiain martyrs named Valentine. One account from the 1400’s describes Valentine as a priest who was beheaded near Rome by the emperor Claudius for helping couples wed. A different account claimed Valentine was the Bishop of Terni, also executed by Claudius II on the outskirts of Rome. Valentine is the patron saint of Beekeepers and epilepsy
The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the Middle Ages when the tradition of courtly love flourished.
In the second half of the twentieth century, the practice of exchanging cards was extended to all manner of gifts in the United States. Usually from a man to a woman. Such gifts including roses and chocolates packed in a red satin, heart shaped boxes..
In the 1980’ the diamond industry began to promote Valentines Day as an occasion for giving jewelry. In some elementary schools , children decorate classrooms, exchange cards and eat sweet treats. The greeting cards of these students often mention what they appreciate about each other.
The U.S. Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately one billion valentines are sent each year, making the day the second largest card sending holiday, behind Christmas. It is also estimated that men spend on the average twice as much money as women.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.
Charles M. Schulz
I have to say I didn’t get any valentine cards sent out at all so you’ll have to consider this post as my Valentine to you.
My sweethearts are my friends and family and a few of them are pictured today. I love you all and want you to know you are my Valentines. I have plenty of candy on hand and a few flowers too, so I’m ready for a Valentines Day celebration.
They say today will be mostly sunny, but much colder with a high of 19 degrees so it’ll be another day for me to cuddle up with a good book. I can snack on my candy and enjoy the comforts of home.
I hope you have a FANTASTIC Friday! Happy Valentines Day.

Happy Valentines Day Ma:)
Happy Valentine's Day Ma! You have wonderful pictures of your Valentines! I saw a lot of stands out here with people selling flowers and stuffed animals along the side of the road. Will be a busy day for them I bet!

Some of my happiest Valentines memories were in elementary school: We'd decorate white bakery bags and hang them as 'mailboxes' on the chalkboard. So cute seeing dozens of men carrying big candy boxes, fresh flowers at Wal-Mart this morning. One big burly guy carrying a little negligee like it might break. :) Your plans to cuddle up with candy and a good book sounds like a win-win!
Happy ☺ Valentine's ❤ Day
