ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Poinsettia Day which honors the beautiful blossoming plant with red and green foliage that has become very popular during the holiday season. Although it is native to Mexico, 90 percent of all poinsettias are exported from the United States.
Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first US ambassador to Mexico introduced these gorgeous flowers to the US in the 1820’s. While visiting there he found the flowers growing on a hillside and sent some to his home in South Carolina. The flowers grew well in his greenhouse and Poinsett began distributing them. The name poinsettia soon became the accepted name of the flower in English speaking countries.
To celebrate today, buy a poinsettia for a friend or for yourself.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
As long as we know in our hearts what Christmas out to be, Christmas is.
Erick Severeid
The pictures of the Poinsettias shown today are of the artificial variety, but I have had many real ones in years past. They are very colorful and always remind me of Christmas. And for that reason I decided to decorate my nativity set with them
Legend has it that a poor child in Mexico having nothing to give the Christ Child on His birthday gathered some weeds into lovely bouquet; the only gift she had to offer. When she brought the gift to the manger , the simple weed was transformed into brilliant red blooms - a poinsettia. Now known as the Beautiful Flower of the Holy Night. They bloom each year during the Christmas season.
It’s mid week once more and things are rolling right along. I’m happy to say progress is being made. It’s always a good feeling when we can get anything done. It’s to be another partly sunny day here and that helps me find a little bit more energy. We’re to be above freezing for a couple of days now too. Tonight I have a Christmas concert to go to for one of my granddaughters. That always make me smile!
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Christmas hath a beauty… lovelier than the world can show.
Christina G. Rossetti
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

6606. for a good cup of French Vanilla coffee this morning
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Sunshine always makes me smile!
Children's Christmas concerts are always fun to see! They get so excited to perform for the audience. I like poinsettias. It seems that a lot of churches I've gone to use them as part of their Christmas decorations.

I count the days when I visit and I love how you do that.....so many days before Christmas.....or other days.
Yikes! Dark before 5:00! Yesterday I went to Goodwill in late afternoon and it was pitch dark when I cane out! It was spooky!
I’m still in bed as I write and I may stay here all day. I think my battery died!
Oh, I love that legend of the poinsettia! Reminds me of the Little Drummer Boy … my mother's all-time favorite Christmas carol. She, too, loved the red blooms and always had one or two plants on her dining room table during the holiday season. I think it was a Disney park we visited that had an enormous Christmas tree made solely from pointsettias.
Poinsettias are such a distinct and stunning plants. DisneyLand had a huge Christmas tree last year made of poinsettia. It was stunning.
I love your Nativity figures Pam! Very pretty. I hope you enjoyed your Granddaughter's Christmas Concert. I miss things like that over here! When I worked at the Manor, we each used to get a Poinsetta each year for Christmas. They are lovely flowers for sure and I loved the story of how they came to be! Thank you for all that you share with us. I am always learning something new! xoxo
