ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Christmas Card Day which honors Sr. Henry Cole of England who created the first Commercial Christmas card in 1843. Today is the perfect time to get started on your own cards for the holiday season.
Between shopping for gifts and decorating, that doesn’t leave much time to write out countless Christmas cards. If you don’t have time to send out a physical card, you can always send out an e-card. But nothing beats the real thing!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A little smile, a word of cheer.
A bit of love from someone near,
A little gift from one held dear,
Best wishes for the coming year,
These make a Merry Christmas!
John Greenleaf Whittier
I do love getting Christmas cards in the mail, but every year, I get fewer and fewer. I have always sent them out until this year when I did a Newsletter instead and more than half of them went out in an email. I’ve only received two cards so far, but there is still 3 more weeks until Christmas.
Many years I’ve saved them and then after Christmas choose a card from the pile and pray specifically for the person that sent it. Not to say that I don’t pray for all my family and friends every day, but I say a special one for that person.
I made of pot chicken and dumplings yesterday so I’ve got Sunday dinner covered for today. Usually I like to cook the chicken with onion, carrots, and celery and take it out and put some barbecue sauce on it and bake it for a while, then make drop dumplings in the broth.
However, it was a busy day for me, so I found a crockpot chicken and dumpling recipe and decided to try that out for something different. After slow cooking the vegetables and chicken for 4 hours on high, I shredded the chicken and then dropped in the dumpling batter and covered and cooked for 25 minutes more. It turned out great. The dumplings weren’t as fluffy but still good.
I’m going to church as usual today, but won’t spend time to do much relaxing afterward. There is still much that needs to be done and it’s taking longer than usual these days to do anything I want to. For me it’s something I love to da anyway so it’s not really work at all.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

My Christmas wish for you: May you have joy, happiness and love always!
Haven't gotten any cards yet but I usually only get a handful and don't send out too many myself. I do remember looking forward to the mail when I was growing up and wondering who we were going to get a card from. That chicken and dumpling recipe sounds delicious! We are making a shrimp and veggie recipe tonight for dinner. A new recipe for us. It should be tasty.

Like Betty just said, a big part of my childhood memories was anticipating who'd send what kind of Christmas card. If it didn't contain a hand-written note or a photo, I was so disappointed! I like the thought of you saying a special prayer for individual senders.
PS - Are those your 'sunshine boys' in younger years?
I can give eCards these days. While they cannot be held and cherished, it is the best I can do these days. Two falls hurt fingers.
But I did enjoy sending and receiving cards.
I addressing my Christmas cards today and would love to send you one. The card features my Wedtern Santa painting. You can find my email on the side bar of my blog and send it privately.
Chicken and dumplings sound so good! I use canned biscuits for the dumplings....much better than when I tried to make them!
Send me your address I mean....
Yes, that picture is of my Sunshine Boys at an earlier time and this is a Christmas gift that keeps on giving. It has a button that you push and you can hear their voices say, Merry Christmas grand'ma'. I pull it out every year and it's become a permanent part of my Christmas decorating.
