ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Letter Writing Day which is a day to bring out your stationary and writing equipment and pen a letter to someone special. Letter writing is as old as written language. It wasn’t until the mid 19th century that envelopes were easily accessible. They were expensive and most people just folded their letters and sealed them with sealing wax.
Today fewer and fewer people take the time to sit down and write letters to their loved ones. This holiday encourages people to write and send letters. If you send out newsletters or cards for the holidays, maybe today is the day to add a little handwritten note to them.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The beauty of the written word is that it can be held close to the heart and read over and over again.
Florence Littauer
I will be sending out my Christmas newsletter today. Most will get it in the form of an email, but for those I know that don’t use the internet or that I don’t have an email address for, they
will be sent out in regular mail. I had hoped to have it out by the 1st of December, but that didn’t happen. So today is the day.
It’s basically and overview of my year. I tried to limit it to one page so there is a lot that went on that it doesn’t cover, but it hits the highlights of 2018. Every day is such a gift and I’m thankful for each one. There is always something new to do or to learn that makes each one precious to me.
Today we continue to be cold and dreary here as far as the weather goes, but they do say there will be some sunshine coming our way for the weekend. And Sunday we might go above freezing. Now that is what I call exciting.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The sending of a letter constitutes a magical grasp upon the future.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6589. for letters, keeping us in touch
6590. for a little sunshine coming our way
6591. for the internet, saving me some stamps
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Write: write letters. Keep journals. Besides your children, there is no surer way of achieving immortality.
Ken Burns
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I'll be posting my Newsletter for Christmas next. Hope you enjoy it.
So true that letter writing is not done so often these days. I wonder if the schools even teach it any more. I know both kids classes had pen pals that they wrote to. I haven't done a Christmas newsletter in years but then I haven't sent too many cards either LOL.

What a super sunset(?) picture! That cloud looks just like a molten marshmallow!
I've only a few handwritten letters remaining ….. but realizing the time and devotion it took, I treasure each one. At the expense of sentiment, I've allowed myself to be really dependent on my keyboard's ease of editing and instantaneous transmission. For everything we gain, there's something lost. Sigh ...
