ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is also Book Lovers Day which encourages you to find a place in the shade to relax with a good book.
Book reading is a great hobby. It's an important one, too. Employers look for it on resumes. Reading is educational, informative, and relaxing. It makes us both smarter, and happier people.
Book Lovers Day is a great day to celebrate. Just grab an interesting book, find a quiet, cozy place, and crack open the cover. Celebrating Book Lovers Day in August is pleasurable on the deck, under a shady tree, poolside, or in a cozy hammock. If you fall asleep while reading, that's okay. It's all part of the relaxing benefits of being a book lover.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Always look on the bright side of life. Otherwise it'll be too dark to read.

This son of mine lives close by so there is a good chance that I’ll probably be celebrating with him at some point today. I’ve baked his favorite cake too! This is the second August birthday in our family but there will be several more to celebrate and an Anniversary too! Whether or not I get to be with them in person is of no consequence to me. These special days are made for celebration!
I do love to read and do that mostly on my Kindle these days. When I moved I gave away most of the books that had accumulated over the years, but still have a few of my favorites. I simply could not part with all of them. Some books are like old friends.
We’re to have another beautiful day here in my part of the world. I plan to enjoy it will it lasts !
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Rice Pudding Day!
This is one dessert I’ve never been able to perfect, but that hasn’t stopped me from trying. DDH said his grandmother made the best and he loved it. I found a recipe to share and will have to try it out.
Grandma’s Rice Pudding
1 1/2 cups cooked rice
1/4 cup raisins
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Additional milk, optional
Place rice and raisins in a greased 1 qt. casserole. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar and nutmeg; pour over rice.
Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool. Pour milk over each serving if desired. Refrigerate leftovers. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
You know you've read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.
Paul Sweeney
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5146. For DS#5, it’s his birthday today
5147. for books, they provide hours of entertainment for me
5148. for desserts, puddings are good
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Happy birthday to DS#5! I always enjoy a good book, been reading a lot lately. Even found the library lends out ebooks. Looking forward to see what they have to offer.

Happy birthday blessings to your son!
I've never had rice pudding, but it sounds yummy ... and comforting.
Great pictures; I especially love that one of you with the kids and grands. Joy!
Your DS#5 and I share a birthday. Mine was yesterday (the 9th) too... but 61 years ago. :-) Happy Birthday to him & may he have many many more happy birthdays to celebrate!
Happy Belated Birthday Greetings to your son. Love the family photos you have shared with us today! Especially the one with you in it! I love books and it shows. I have more bookcases in my house and books than anything else! It is a life long love affair. When you have a good book to read, you always have a friend! My motto! Have a great weekend! xoxo
