ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Sisters Day! Few relationships are as strong as the bond between two sisters. Sisters are more than just siblings to us. They are the most loyal and special friends that we could ask for.
Sisters Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate your relationship with your sister and tell her how much she means to you.
Sisters share a lot during their childhood, they fight and make up, they love, hug and kiss each other, but most certainly they also annoy each other from time to time and play tricks on each other. However having a sister is not replaceable although some girl friends can be like a sister, too, as they feel connected to each other just the same.
HAPPY SISTER’S DAY!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost.
Marion C. Garretty
The picture above is of my two sisters when we went to lunch to celebrate their birthdays a few years ago. I’m the oldest of 3 girls in my family so I was blessed to have two younger sisters. One of them passed away in December of 2016 but I still have the youngest of the family and thankfully, she doesn’t live very far away so I get to see her quite often. She is very appreciated and I’m very thankful to have her. The memories we share can never be replaced and we are still making more. We have plans to get together this coming week with our daughters.
Today I’ll be off to church as usual and have no plans for the rest of the day. I always like to think of Sundays as my day to relax. There is still a few leftovers in the fridge so I don’t even have to cook if I don’t want to.
Yesterday was a beautiful cool sunny day here with temps in the low 70’s so I turned the oven on and made some banana bread. I had enough ripe bananas to make two loaves so I put one in the freezer to have later on.
Today they say we’ll be in the upper 70’s and it will be a partly cloudy, partly sunny day. Perfect weather to sit on the porch.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Root Beer Float Day! Between the creamy vanilla ice cream and the frothy root beer foam, how can anyone resist this sweet refreshment? Today we celebrate this tasty summer treat.
To make one of these delicious beverages, just add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to a tall glass of root beer. Serve with a straw and a spoon!

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
You keep your past by having sisters. As you get older, they’re the only ones who don’t get bored if you talk about your memories.
Deborah Moggach
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Thanks for reminding me it is Sister's Day. I sent mine a Facebook wish! Hope your Sunday is peaceful!
I'd have loved having a sister ... or a sibling!
They were making and giving away root beer floats at the supermarket yesterday. My dad used to refer to them as 'brown cows.'
What a lovely picture of your sisters. I am sure you missed your sister who passed. So glad the other one is close by and you get to see her often. I have 1 sister who lives in Washington, DC. Haven't seen her since 2011, might have to remedy that soon, but I do think one of her daughters will be engaged soon, so a wedding might be a great "excuse" to go and see her. Yum with the banana bread.
