ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Social Security Day which gives us an opportunity to think about the more unfortunate members of society and do something for them.
Wherever we are and whatever we do we’re a small part of a greater society and there’s no better indicator of our togetherness than a social security system, which is why we should celebrate Social Security Day.
Anyone can fall on hard times, or have a period during which a little help doesn’t go amiss, which is why these support systems exist.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Security... it's simply the recognition that changes will take place and the knowledge that you're willing to deal with whatever happens.
Harry Browne
There is no doubt about it, my family, friends, and my faith are my security system. They give me needed support when times are tough and rejoice with me in the good times. When we feel secure, we have no need to worry.
My faith, family and friends are the important things in my life and they have never failed me. One cannot help but feel secure when they have loving arms wrapped around them.
I was blessed to have more Sunday visitors yesterday as one of my nephews, his wife and little baby came to see me. This was the first time I got to see the baby and what a joy he is. Having had visitors two weeks in a row is one habit I could get used to. Catching up with family I’d not seen in a while was wonderful!
It’s looking like the week ahead will bring temps in the low to mid 80’s for us. That’s pretty typical summer weather heading into fall here. Many are trying to fit in some vacation days before school begins. As I no longer have family at home, it seems like a permanent vacation for me most days.
I’ve a party to attend this evening as DD is having a ’31’ party. I’ve never been to one before so it’ll be a new experience for me. There is not much else on my calendar for the rest of the week, but then I never know when unexpected visitors might show up. We’ll see...
Except for the picture above of my nephew and his family the pictures today are courtesy of DS#5 and family. Safe and secure in each others arms.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Creamsicle Day! This enjoyable frozen treat is the perfect way to sit back, relax, and cool down on a hot August day. The combination of vanilla cream and fruity ice is pure genius!
I didn’t have a picture of a creamsicle so I used the one of the candy corn I bought recently as it is orange and white like a creamsicle.
The classic Creamsicle flavor combination is orange and vanilla, although many other types are available today. You can now find this frozen treat in blue raspberry, lime, grape, cherry and blueberry!
Creamsicles are not hard to find, but they are also easy to make at home. Mix together fruit juice and vanilla ice cream in a large bowl. Then, gradually add milk and continue to mix. Finally, pour the mixture into small paper cups and place them in the freezer. Once they are partially frozen, insert popsicle sticks into them and place them back inside the freezer. When they are frozen solid, peel off the paper cups and enjoy the creamsicle!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Giving thanks, and often, frees the spirit and makes the heart secure.
Fay Bohlayer
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Security represents your sense of worth, your identity, your emotional anchorage, your self esteem, your basic personal strength or lack of it.
Stephen Covey
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

How neat to see your nephew and family. I always like a creamsicle. So tasty!

What's more fun than a see-saw? That image is wonderful!
My Tom is fond of making his own creamsicles. I remember them from grade-school, yes ... mostly, I remember something similar called a 'push-up.'
So curious to hear, what's a '31' party? Hope you had a great time!
