ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Ride the Wind Day which gives us a chance to appreciate and take advantage of the last days of warm summer breezes. You can catch a ride with the breeze, or float along slowly like a gentle, late summer cloud.
The cold air will soon be moving in, so take this day to make sure you enjoy the warm wind on your face and let the breeze blow through your hair. Just relax, and let the wind carry you away in whatever direction it is blowing. Leave your troubles and worries behind for a spell, as you waft in the air.
Kick back and enjoy one of the last days of summer. There's no better feeling than the wind in your hair as you look out at a beautiful horizon.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
May brooks and trees and singing hills
Join in the chorus too,
And every gentle wind that blows
Send happiness to you.
Irish Blessing
The rains and the winds of yesterday cleared out the hot and very humid air we had and today is supposed to be in the mid 70’s and sunny. It'll be the kind of day that is just right to enjoy the outdoors. We’re to be a little cooler yet tomorrow. It’ll be great to open the windows for a while and enjoy some fresh air blowing in. It seems we’ve spent far too many days in the air conditioning in order to feel comfortable.
It’s also water me Wednesday. I’ll water the plants and wash some clothes. Nothing very exciting at all but when when you are loving what you do, nothing is work. Hard to believe fall is now less than a month away and soon I’ll add raking leaves to the list of things to be done.
Today’s pictures are of my Sunshine Boys as they started back to school this week. I can’t believe how fast they are growing. They are growing into fine young gentlemen.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Sponge Cake Day! Sponge cake is the perfect dessert to enjoy at the end of a warm summer day.
INEXPENSIVE SPONGE CAKE
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. flavoring
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1 c. boiling milk
Beat eggs, sugar, salt and flavoring until light. Sift flour and baking powder together. Add butter to milk. Add liquid to egg mixture. Beat in flour mixture quickly using spatula. Pour into 9 by 13 inch greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
This is delicious when you put on a broiled topping of brown sugar, butter and coconut after baking.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the wind longs to play with your hair.
THE PROPHET
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5188. for a windy day to open the windows
5189. for cake, it usually means a party at my house
5190. for water, can’t live without it
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
A calm sea does not produce a skilled sailor. We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails. Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

It is amazing how fast kids grow up these days. Hard to imagine too summer is winding down.

It seems like yesterday you shared your Sunshine Boys back to school photo ... from last year! One of my DIL's favorite sayings, "Time is a thief." Best blessed wishes for their new year!
