ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
It’s Individual Rights day which honors John Locke, whose philosophical writings argued for the rights of each single human being. He held that basic rights include life, liberty, property, freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom to petition government.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I believe that every right implies a responsibility; every opportunity, an obligation; every possession, a duty.
John D. Rockefeller, Jr.
I believe that we all are created equal and are all uniquely and wonderfully made. We are all special! Our lives are a gift and what we do with that life is up to us. We have responsibilities as well as rights.
I think it all boils down to the Golden Rule to treat others as we would want to be treated. Living by the Golden Rule will make you a better person, will make those around you happier, and will make the community you live in a better place.
Today may be another one of those rainy days here so the yard work will probably put off till tomorrow. Last week I skipped it all together as it really didn’t need it, but now it’s looking like there is some work to be done out there.
It’s good to have time indoors too as there is always something to do. I’ll be trying to get some housework done while it’s raining so I have it done when the sun shines.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s More Herbs, Less Salt Day which promotes use of healthy herbs over salts.
Late August is a very appropriate time to celebrate this special day. The harvest of garden herbs is at a peak. There's nothing better than fresh garden herbs in your favorite recipes. And, we all should have less salt in our diets.
There really isn't a substitute for salt, but since many people find salt free diets very bland , herbs will give that little bit of extra flavor you'll be looking for. Give it a week or so, and you won't need anything but the natural flavour of food, which is wonderful! You don't have to stick like glue to the recipe below. Basically, just select which herbs you like, and wing it.
Herbal Salt Substitute
1/4 cup dried parsley
1/4 cup dried savory
1/4 cup dried thyme
2 tablespoons dried marjoram
Grind all ingredients together.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5206. for basic human rights
5207. for love, it makes the world go round
5208. for fresh herbs, very savory
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Love one another and you will be happy. It's as simple and as difficult as that.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I think if we all lived by the Golden Rule what a kinder world it would be.

I've always taught my kids to live by the Golden Rule....whether they do or not is up to them. Hope you have a great Tuesday!
Not long ago I was astonished to discover the difference fresh herbs made on my sandwich.
I do my best to avoid sodium, but it's insidious. :)
I've forgotten what all combined to make that lunch so special, but one of my retirement goals is to learn what herbs compliment which dishes ... and try to raise some! :)
