ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Lazy Day which is your chance to goof off, and definitely not work. And, it definitely comes at a good time. Hot, muggy weather makes it easy to kick back and be lazy for a day. If summer chores are not done by now, they can just wait one more day. It is best spent on a hammock, along with your favorite summer beverage.
Lazy Day is an ideal excuse to take a break and enjoy some precious down time, without feeling guilty about it.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Ambition is a poor excuse for not having sense enough to be lazy
Charlie McCarthy
Today looks like a goof off day for me as I have plans with my sister and daughter. We are taking a little day trip to Amish country. It’ll be a day of shopping and good food too. The Amish people which have a large community not too far from here are well known for their simple living, horses and buggies, plain dress, and high quality craftsmanship of goods from food to furniture.
Not long ago I had the chance to visit several Amish farm markets for fruits and vegetables, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of those too, but this trip will be more about craft stores, bakeries and cheeses of all kinds. I’m on the lookout for a globe for one of my lamps and this might be the perfect place to find one. We’ll see…
I should have lots of pictures to share later on.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National S'mores Day which celebrates this tasty summer treat. It's appropriately observed in August...campfire prime time. Don't limit your consumption of S'mores to the campfire. They are popular with kids year round, and can be baked in the oven, or microwave.
The origin of S'mores dates back to the 1920's. It's believed the recipe was created by the Campfire Girls. Girl Scouts soon discovered it, and found it to be choclatey delicious. Before long, S'mores became a campfire staple for everyone. S'more folklore suggests that S'mores got its name right by the campfire. After eating one, young kids chanted, gimme some more!
The 1927 recipe for s'mores, as written in a Girl Scouts guidebook, really hasn't changed: toast marshmallows over a fire to a crisp gooey state and sandwich between two graham crackers and two pieces of a chocolate bar. The marshmallow will melt the chocolate a little.
There are many variations of this sweet treat. You can replace the graham crackers with Fudge Striped cookies or sugar cookies and use Peanut Butter cups or a carmel filled candy bar instead of the original chocolate bar. It’s your choice and fun to experiment with.
I even found a recipe for making s’mores in an ice cream cone. You place about 1 teaspoon chocolate chips into an ice cream cone, followed by a layer of mini marshmallows. Continue layering chips and marshmallows into the cone until full.
Wrap the cone tightly in aluminum foil and heat the foil wrapped cones in a campfire until chocolate and marshmallows are melted, 3 to 5 minutes.

that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
