ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

It’s National Radio Day which celebrates a great invention and communications medium. The invention of the radio dates back to the late 1800s. A number of inventions and discoveries were required to make the radio a reality. This included both transmission and reception methods and technology. The radio somewhat evolved from the telegraph and the telephone, with wireless telegraph directly contributing to its invention.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The good news is, that the bad news can be turned into good news when you change your attitude
Robert H. Schuller
I listen to the radio most every morning. I tune in to get the news and the weather report. I also like to listen to the music while I’m putting together my morning news letter and having my good cup of coffee.
It’s one of those things that’s become a habit over the years. I remember well when everyone would listen to morning news reports to see if there would be a snow day in the winter.
Thankfully there will be no thoughts of a snow day for quite a while yet. But winter will come again. Now most watch TV, but I like radio best as I can listen and do other things at the same time.
Today is to be a sunny Sunday and I’m very thankful I was able to get the A/C in the car repaired as I’ll be off to church as usual. It’s nice to stay cool on the way there and back. They say we’ll have a few days in the mid to upper 80’s here to start of the new week, but by the middle of the week we’re to cool down and be in the 70’s again.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Chocolate Pecan Pie Day which is the perfect opportunity to indulge your sweet tooth. You needn’t feel too guilty about grabbing a piece of pie, because pecans have all kinds of health benefits. They contain more valuable antioxidants than any other type of nut, plus plenty of fibre, minerals and vitamins.
I’ve never made this recipe, but it does sound delicious. I’ve rarely made a pecan pie because my family isn’t really fond of them, but I do love to eat them. I just don’t need a whole pie to myself.
Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie
1 prepared pie crust
1 tsp. flour
FILLING
1 c. semisweet chocolate chips
2 c. pecan halves
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. dark corn syrup
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
Whipping cream, whipped, sweetened
1/4 c. chocolate chips, melted
Prepare pie crust according to package directions for filled one crust pie using 9 inch pie pan. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Sprinkle chocolate chips over bottom of pie crust lined pan; top with pecan halves.
In small bowl, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs and vanilla; beat well. Pour over pecans. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes or until top is deep golden brown. Cool. Garnish with whipped cream and melted chocolate chips. Store in refrigerator. 8 servings.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
For today and its blessings, I owe the world an attitude of gratitude.
Clarence E. Hodges
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5179. for my radio
5180. for a sunny Sunday
5181. for good cup of coffee to start the day
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I love the radio and always have... learned it from my mother. Talk radio is my very favorite thing to listen to..... 89AM-WLS out of Chicago. :-) Most of the regulars I used to listen to are gone now (Roe Conn, Jay Marvin, Don Wade-RIP, etc.) but I still enjoy listening. xoxo
I no longer listen to any audio devices in my car ... but yes, the radio used to be my best friend!
My parents had a big wooden chest-looking thing. My girlfriend and I'd sit on the floor in front of it after school and pray 'Listen to the Rhythm of the Falling Rain" would come on. A few years later -- if atmospheric conditions were right after dark -- we could catch KOMA in Oklahoma City on our transistor radios!
Great radio memories! Have a blessed day!
My mom would listen to the radio all day whrn we were growing up. Now I may listen to it when driving or cleaning. I like a quiet house when I am alone.
