ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO DS#6 AND HIS WIFE TODAY!
An anniversary is a time to celebrate the joys of today, the memories of yesterday, and the hopes of tomorrow.

May the dear Lord bless you both today and always !
Today is also Left Handers’ Day! Every year on August 13th, we celebrate the 10% of the population that is left handed. This day is also an opportunity to raise awareness about the needs of left handed children.
If you are left handed, you know that living in a world designed for right handed people can be quite difficult. Opening doors, writing in spiral notebooks, and using a computer mouse can be awkward and frustrating. Studies have shown that left handedness is often associated with intellectual creativity. Famous left handers include Michelangelo, Mozart, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Henson, and 8 of our 44 presidents!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Love is a symbol of eternity. It wipes out all sense of time, destroying all memory of a beginning and all fear of an end.

This anniversary celebration is another of my long distance celebrations, but a card went out in the mail as usual to wish them much happiness and love! Thanks to DDIL#6, I do have a lot of pictures to share of the two of them and their lovely family.
My own DDH was left handed but he did do many things with his right hand. He had lovely handwriting and wrote like a right hander with his left hand. I still have many of his letters which were sent when he was in the military before we were married.
My own children are right handed and none inherited his left handedness. As far as I know, it’s not been passed on to the grand babes either.
It’s hard to believe it is Sunday already. It was a busy but fun week here. Many will be starting back to school next week so for them summer vacation will be over. Here we don’t go back till after Labor Day weekend which I consider the unofficial end to summer. Meanwhile I’ll be enjoying this lovely weather we’ve been having until it’s over.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Filet Minion Day which celebrates the history of this steak and the delicious role it has played in exquisite meals.
This delicious cut is served in 4 to 8 ounce portions and comes prepared in one of three varieties, seared in a pan, grilled over coals or the most famous, wrapped in bacon. The bacon is typically added to enrich the piece with fat, as Filet Mignon tends to leanness.
As a steak lover, I can’t think of a better meal to enjoy for an anniversary. Since it can be pricey, its usually only make it on special occasions and an anniversary is the perfect occasion! The recipe I’m sharing today is for a romantic dinner for two.
This starts on the stove and finishes in the oven, so you’ll need a heavy oven safe non stick skillet, or cast iron skillet to make this. One thing you should keep in mind is you’ll want to bring the meat up to room temperature, so let it sit on the counter at least 30 minutes before you’re ready to cook.
PERFECT FILET MIGNON FOR TWO
2 beef tenderloin filet mignon steaks
olive oil cooking spray
kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spray the steak lightly all over with olive oil, then season both side generously with kosher salt and black pepper.
When the oven is ready, heat the skillet over high heat until the pan is very hot. When hot, add the steaks and cook, without moving for 2 1/2 minutes. Turn over and cook an additional 2 to 2 1/2 minutes. Sear the sides of the steaks for about 1 minute so it's browned all over.
Place the steaks in the oven for about 4 to 5 minutes, then check them with the meat thermometer inserted into the side of the steak. Remove when the steaks read 125 degrees for Medium Rare, or 130 degrees for medium. Let them rest 5 to 10 minutes before serving

ADVICE FOR TODAY
To keep the fire burning brightly there's one easy rule: Keep the two logs together, near enough to keep each other warm and far enough apart — about a finger's breadth — for breathing room. Good fire, good marriage, same rule.

A bit of love from someone dear…

Happy anniversary to DDS#6 and wife. Lovely family they are! We had a big thunderstorm here early morning but I slept through it. Hubby didn't. Got up to check the weather station to see if there was any report he should be aware of.
No left handers here, but agree it can be a challenge to be one.

Happy Anniversary to your loved ones!
YAY, I'm a leftie! Sort of, that is. If I want to throw a ball with any semblance of accuracy or use force, I have to use my right hand. Suppose that stemmed from my left arm being set in plaster casts a couple times in my youth.
Hope you're enjoying a blessed day!
