ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is National Dog Day which has two goals: to honor dogs, and to rescue dogs from homelessness and abuse. It's an opportunity for us to recognize and appreciate the value and importance of dogs in our lives.
From keeping us safe by working for the emergency services to supporting people who are blind, deaf or disabled, dogs do a lot for us humans.
Dogs are man’s best friend!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive.
Gilda Radner
The only dogs that I have these days are my grand dogs and thankfully I do have several of them. Some of my children even have more than one dog so I get the pleasure of having them around often. Dogs are just like children and are a part of our family.
Here are 10 things dogs can teach us about what matters most in life:
Live in the moment.
Overcome fear with love.
Don't hold grudges.
Play every day.
Jump for joy when you're happy.
Accept yourself.
Enjoy the journey.
Drink lots of water.
Today I’m going to a birthday party for our little Mr. Wonderful who will be turning seven on the 31st of this month. I hope to have pictures of the party to share with you then, but today’s pictures are of just a few of my many grand dogs. Note: I'm still having problems so cannot put pictures in :(
They had hoped to have a pool party but due to the unusually cool days we’ve had this week, I don’t think many will be swimming. I know I won’t. We’ll be in the low 70’s today, but the nights have been in the 50’s and that has really cooled the pool water down. None the less, I’m sure there will be lots of fun to be had.
I have enjoyed these cooler days that have given us some respite from the heat and humidity. It’s not often at all that we are this cool in August. It’s usually our honest month.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Cherry Popsicle Day!
In the heat of summer there’s nothing quite like a juicy, cool popsicle to help bring down your temperature, and add a little fun to the day. The cherry popsicle stands out in its succulent red as the perfect representation of summer fun. Cherry Popsicle Day celebrates this bright red banner of popsicle and encourages you to indulge in them shamelessly.
Try these amazing Cherry Coconut Popsicles!
Cherry Coconut Popsicle
CHERRY LAYERS
1 pound of pitted cherries
1 1/2 c water
1/2 c granulated sugar
2t Lime Juice
COCONUT LAYERS
3/4 c Coconut Milk
3/4 c Yogurt
1/3 c granulated sugar
Start with the cherry layer, and place all the ingredients in a saucepan and cook until the cherries have a soft texture before placing in a blender. You can remove the cherry pulp with a strainer, or give your pops a pulpier feel by leaving them in. Then blend the coconut filling ingredients together until they’re smooth, and pour alternating layers in the popsicle mold, freezing between each layer. Voila! Some of the most delicious popsicles you’ll ever taste! Don’t forget the stick.

Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I haven't had a dog for some years now but I have lots of grand-dogs that I love. Miss having one, had to settle for Walker the cat. Have a safe, good weekend.
The party sounds like fun! Our pool water is cooling down too. Just that time of year I do believe. I do miss having a dog, but I don't think we are getting another one, at least not soon. They are delightful to have around though.

Cute post, Ma! When I first read this (on my cell phone) I was enjoying a cup of coffee with two little dogs vying for position on my lap. :)
Though I certainly didn't WANT them and they're expensive to maintain, I can't imagine our lives without them.
