76 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
Sunrise: 7:30 am
Sunset: 7:02 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is World Teacher Day. Teachers deserve a little recognition, and some thanks and appreciation. Aside from parents and direct family, who else has as much influence on the hearts and minds of a child. Teachers not only educate, but they help to shape and frame your child's beliefs, values, and behaviors.
Parents and students are encouraged to offer thanks and recognition today.
If you are a teacher, Happy World Teacher Day!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.
Henry Brooks Adams
There are several teachers in my family so this is a day I’ll be celebrating. They are dedicated and deserving of some recognition today. Great teachers help create great students.
I had some great teachers as I grew up. Starting with my parents and then when I went to school, but there were many others too. Too many to count. I’m still learning something new every day so the lessons continue. I really don’t think they ever stop. We are students as long as we still have something to learn.
We are having some warmer days here but they say it’ll cool back down by the weekend. It feels like a return of summer.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is National Apple Betty Day! Apple betty is a crustless apple pie seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar.
Oatmeal Brown Betty
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup oatmeal
5 tart baking apples
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Beat together butter and sugar. Add oatmeal to make a stiff batter/dough. Peel, core and thinly slice apples.
Lightly butter a casserole large enough to hold the apples. Place all of the apples in the buttered casserole. Spread the topping over the apples.
Bake one hour. Serve with heavy cream, whipped cream, ice cream or just plain.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I love your thoughts on teachers Pam. I had some brilliant teachers when I went to school. I think a good teacher is worth their weight in gold. Thankfully most of my early teachers were really, really good. They are the most important ones I think because they help set up your attitude for the remainder of your school days! I have some high school teachers that I am still in touch with on Facebook and we are friends. I think teachers are not paid near enough what they are worth! Hope you have a super Wednesday! xoxo
Yum on that recipe, so appropriate with apple season. Good that people still want to be teachers, lots of hard work for sometimes little pay.
Betty
Your apple Betty recipe looks so easy and yummy. I will have to try it. I had some great teachers when I was in school. My kids and grandkids have also had some who are memorable.
