77 DAYS UNTIL WINTER

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is World Animal Day which is an international day of action for animal rights and welfare celebrated annually on October 4th, the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. We remember the important role that animals have to play in our world, as well as the people who devote their lives working to protect and care for them.
Animal blessings are held in churches, synagogues, and by independent Animal Chaplains in parks and fields and animal rescue shelters hold fundraising events on this day.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Respect for Animals
by Michael Buckley
God, loving Creator of all life,
Help us treat with compassion
The living creatures entrusted to our care.
May they never be subjected to
cruelty and neglect,
May the dominion you gave us over them
Be a partnership of mutual service
So through them,
We come to a greater love
And appreciation of your
Glorious Creation.
Animals of all kinds play an important part in all of our lives. Whether or not you are a pet owner, animals provide joy, companionship, and laughter to our lives. Animals are our companions, our workers, our eyes and ears, and our food.
It is difficult to think of a world without animals. From dogs and cats to the animals on a farm or in the zoo, every life form plays an important role in the ecological balance of the earth. Most of them depend on our care.
Speaking of animals, I’m like the turtle, slow but sure. I’ve been working on getting rid of the clutter here at my house and although I’ve hardly made a dent in it, I continue to do a bit every day. Fall cleaning has taken on a new aspect for me. I’ve been working on this slowly ever since I retired, but there have been too many days I’ve procrastinated in the past, now I’m determined to get it all done.
The pictures today are of DS#6 and family when we went to a petting zoo a few years ago. It was loads of fun.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It's National Taco Day and that calls for celebration. Not only do tacos come in an irresistible hand held package, but their versatility makes them an instant crowd pleaser. From soft or crunchy to fish or beef, there is surely a taco out there for everyone.
Easy Beef Tacos
1 pound lean ground beef
1 cup salsa
10 taco shells
1/2 head lettuce, shredded
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Cook beef over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown; drain. Stir salsa into beef. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly; reduce heat to medium low. Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour beef mixture into large serving bowl.
Heat taco shells as directed on package. Serve taco shells with beef mixture, lettuce, tomato and cheese.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Animals are such agreeable friends — they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.
George Eliot
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
He prayeth best who loveth best
All things both great and small.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I like the recipe for the tacos, my kind of easy thing to put together. Always fun to go to a petting zoo, its fun to see little ones looking at the animals. Just set a goal daily, Ma, on accomplishing the work to get done. Before long it will be done. It can ge daunting so break it up in small segments.
