Today is Information Overload Day which reminds us that there’s such a thing as too much information, and sometimes this constant inundation can leave actually have a negative impact on our happiness and productivity.
Information Overload Day is about taking control of the flow of information into your life, and limiting it when and if it’s necessary.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There are many things of which a wise man might wish to be ignorant
Ralph Waldo Emerson
There are times that I feel dizzy with all the information coming my way. Between the internet, the TV, and my cell phone, information is literally at my finger tips. There comes a time when I just shut it all off and enjoy a few moments of quiet. For my own peace of mine, it’s just good to revel in silence now and then. The pictures today were taken from the front porch while I spent some quiet time just watching the leaves fall.
I’ve seen the term TMI, too much information, used and I know for a fact that I’ve gotten to that point. I’ve learned things thanks to our high level of technology these days that I never dreamed I’d know. Information is a good thing, but there are definitely times when it is TMI.
It’s supposed to be a rainy day today. I had hoped to mow the yard and mulch some more leaves but it’s looking like that may not get done till Saturday. They say we’ll have rain tomorrow too.
It’s to be cooler too so I’m thinking it may be a good day to turn the oven on. I have some ripe bananas that need using and banana bread sounds awfully good.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
National Brandied Fruit Day is observed annually on October 20th. Brandied fruit is fresh, sweet fruit that is soaked in brandy and sugar, which is then used as a topping on pies, cake or ice cream. Brandy, which has been around since about the 12th century, is distilled from fermented fruit.
Brandy is not something I keep here at my house so I doubt I’d make any, but I found this recipe for those of you who might want to try it.
BRANDIED FRUIT
To start:
1 c. brandy
1 c. sugar
1 c. canned fruit, Pineapple, apricots, maraschino cherries, or peaches, drained
Place in airtight jar for 2 weeks. To add to brandied fruit: every 14 days add 1 cup fruit and 1 cup sugar. Keep at room temperature; lightly covered. Stir every day or two. When fruit rises to top; its ready. Always keep 2 cups.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4330. for technology that has broadened our knowledge, but sometimes is just TMI
4331. for fruit, it’s so very good for us
4332. for rainy days, much better than snow

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
It is enough to open minds , do not overload them. Put there just a spark.
Anatole France
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Yum on the banana bread. I agree, sometimes we just need to turn everything off and be quiet. I didn't watch the debate last night, glad I didn't.

Hope you got your baking done. That is better than mowing anytime. I need to get out there and do some mow/mulching but I am the best procrastinator ever. I think it is because I get TMI!!
I like banana bread, but here lately can't find time to make it. I might try the brandy recipe but like you I don't care for brandy or keep it around. Maybe when some of the older grandkids come around I can get them to go get me a bottle (smile). Take care Jean
Love your Quote from Emmerson Pam! Oh Information overload. Yikes! Sounds like almost every moment of every day sometimes! I don't think I can take it all in at times. I am so glad that we dont' get the debates over here, and that I can't watch them. I cannot imagine what is going to happen in November! I, too, hope you got your baking done! Have a super Friday! xoxo
