Life is a Special Occasion!

Today we celebrate Haunted Refrigerator Night which comes right before one of the spookiest nights of the year. If you’re looking for a way to get into the Halloween mood that doesn’t involve the traditional pumpkin carving or ghost story telling, turn off the lights and gather your friends and family around your fridge and find out what’s been lying dormant inside. The results are sure to be terrifying!
To keep your fridge from becoming the scariest place in your home, it’s good to give it a deep cleaning at least once a week. What you find will be truly haunting.
Happy Haunted Refrigerator Night!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If it weren't for the fact that the TV set and the refrigerator are so far apart, some of us wouldn't get any exercise at all.
Joey Adams
I really don’t like to clean out the refrigerator, but it’s a job that has to be done now and then. It does get pretty creepy inside there sometimes. I was looking for something in the freezer the other day and managed to get that cleaned out.
I found some veggies dated 2013 so out they went along with some leftover turkey from a couple of years ago and some hot dogs that were older than that. I guess it’d been awhile and it needed to be done for sure.
They are saying we’ll get some rain today and even though I’d just rather stay in, I’m up early so will be off to church here a little later on. The rest of the day I can just rest and relax. The week ahead will be another unusually busy one as there is still plenty of decluttering to do. It takes longer for me than most to get things done. I work a little and rest a lot these days.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
National Candy Corn Day is today. Enjoy a handful of this sweet Fall treat. And, what perfect timing. National Candy Corn Day comes just a day before Halloween. By far, the vast majority of candy corn is consumed during the Fall months, with both Halloween and Thanksgiving being the biggest times to eat it.
Candy corn consists primarily of corn syrup, honey, and sugar. There's lots of carbs/sugar, but it's fat free!
Have a happy National Candy Corn Day!
My favorite way to eat candy corn is to mix it with dry roasted peanuts. The sweet and salty really go together well. Other than that I use it for decorations on cakes and cookies, but I did find this recipe to share with you all today.
Just three ingredients and three steps will give you delicious candy bark, a perfect dessert for your family.
Candy Corn Bark
24 oz vanilla flavored candy melts or almond bark, chopped
2 cups broken thin pretzel sticks
2 1/2 cups candy corn
Spray 15 by 10 inch pan with cooking spray. Line pan with waxed paper.
In large microwavable bowl, microwave almond bark on high 1 minute 15 seconds; stir. Continue microwaving and stirring in 15 second intervals until melted and smooth. Stir in pretzels and 2 cups of the candy corn. Spread mixture evenly in pan. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup candy corn evenly over top; press in lightly.
Let stand 1 hour or until completely cooled and set. Break into irregular 2 to 3 inch pieces. Store covered at room temperature.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
If all else fails, pillage the fridge.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4360. for my refrigerator, thankfully it is working just fine
4361. for candy corn, a really sweet treat
4362. for a day just to rest and relax
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Never pride yourself on knowledge. Remember; even a head of iceberg lettuce knows more than you do. It knows whether or not that light really does go out when the refrigerator door shuts.

It is always good to clean out the fridge every so often. I know I am always surprised with what I find in there. Hope you have a relaxful day!

I clean my fridge pretty often. But that freezer is another story. It is 51 here today. After being 90 yesterday!! Crazy fall weather this year, for sure.
Hahahahah ... I love that comment about the head of lettuce!
Last night at our house sure would have qualified as a haunted refrigerator moment. I couldn't believe (that) in the middle of preparing dinner, DH was uncovering unidentified objects. Bleah! Given our heat index (100 degrees Thursday), I just lob them in the bottom of our freezer until trash day so they don't stink up the neighborhood or attract creepy crawlies.
Hope you enjoy your day of rest!
