50 DAYS UNTIL WINTER

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Halloween! Celebrations include costume parties and trick or treating. If you drive around in late afternoon or evening, it is important to keep a careful lookout for children who are unaccustomed to being out on the street after dark. If they are wearing dark costumes or masks, they may be less easy to see than normal. They may also be excited and dart out unexpectedly from between vehicles or behind bushes.
Have a safe and Happy Halloween everyone !
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Eat, drink and be scary.

Just in time for Halloween I got some new pumpkin carving pictures. This time they are of my Sunshine boys who always give this grand’ma’ a reason to smile.
For the first time ever I won’t be handing out treats to the ghost and goblins here, even though it is officially trick or treat night in our hometown. The houses on both sides of me are sitting empty and it’s just too spooky for my liking, so I’m going to watch Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin instead.
It’s another week of sorting out here which is taking more time than I like, but it’s been amazing the treasures I’ve found to keep or pass on to my family. I even found a letter from Santa to my oldest son on his first Christmas. There are plenty more boxes to go through before I’m done.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Caramel Apple Day
This is perfect for a Halloween Treat
Homemade Caramel Apple Dip
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup whipping cream
1 tablespoon sour cream
3/4 teaspoon coarse sea salt
In 2 quart saucepan, stir together sugar, corn syrup and water. Heat over medium high heat; DO NOT STIR. Cook about 10 minutes or until sugar turns a dark amber color.
Add remaining ingredients; beat with whisk until smooth. Pour into heatproof container. Serve with sliced apples for dipping.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Once in a young lifetime one should be allowed to have as much sweetness as one can possibly want and hold.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
On Hallowe'en the thing you must do
Is pretend that nothing can frighten you
And if somethin' scares you and you want to run
Just let on like it's Hallowe'en fun.

Great pictures of pumpkin creations. We will be giving treats out, but not sure how many to expect. If we run out of candy, then we will just turn out the lights. We carved pumpkins yesterday, had fun with it, especially lighting them when it got dark.

Great pictures. I am not handing out treats. I am staying dark and watching Dancing With The Stars!! Happy Halloween
Well done to your two very handsome young Pumpkin carvers! They look deep in concentration there! Your apple dip looks quite different than other ones that I have seen. I am going to have to give that a go! xoxo
