53 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
Sunrise: 7:55 am

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Frankenstein Friday which celebrates the birth of Frankenstein and its creator. Frankenstein is one of the best known horror characters, dating back to the 1800's. It’s hard to imagine the Halloween season without the presence of Frankenstein, lurking somewhere in the darkness.
Frankenstein was born in 1818 when Mary Wollenstonecraft Shelley, at the age of 21, wrote the story Frankenstein.
To celebrate this day, it's suggested that you read the novel, or see a Frankenstein movie.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Clothes make a statement. Costumes tell a story.
Mason Cooley
The pictures above are of one of my grandson’s a few years back. I loved his costume then and can’t help but share it again. No doubt he’s the cutest Frankenstein I’ve ever seen.
For me Halloween isn’t a scary holiday at all but one for fun with the young and young at heart. Our love of dressing up in costumes and parties never seems to grow old.
As usual this week has flown by and without a doubt there were many things I planned on doing that didn’t get done at all, but then they will wait for another day. It doesn’t seem to matter when you know you did your best one way or another.
Tomorrow I’ll have a 45th wedding anniversary to attend and I’ll be seeing many relatives I haven’t seen in a long time. I come from a large family with lots of aunts and uncles and cousins and this anniversary celebration is for one of the cousins on my dad’s side of the family.
Recently one of my aunts on my mom’s side of the family had a reunion of cousins that I was able to attend and so I got to see many relatives I hadn’t seen in a long time too. She felt it had been far too long since we’ve gotten together and decided to do something about it as one of my cousins from out of town was visiting.
Seems more than a little coincidental that both these occasions are so close together. But I’m thankful for any time with family and believe me when I say it’s a large one for sure.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Chocolate Day!
Chocolate has become one of the most popular flavors in the world. Gifts of chocolate molded into different shapes have become traditional on certain holidays: chocolate bunnies and eggs are popular on Easter, chocolate coins on Hanukkah, Santa Claus and other holiday symbols on Christmas, and hearts on Valentine's Day. Chocolate is also used in cold and hot beverages, to produce chocolate milk and hot chocolate.
I love chocolate, so it’s the perfect day to share another new to me recipe.
No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars
1 cup butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups quick cooking oats
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
Grease 9 by 9 inch square pan.
Melt butter in large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and vanilla. Mix in the oats. Cook over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Press half of mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Reserve the other half for topping.
Meanwhile, melt chocolate chips and peanut butter in a small heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. Pour the chocolate mixture over the crust in the pan, and spread evenly with a knife.
Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the chocolate layer, pressing in gently. Cover and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours or overnight. Bring to room temperature before cutting into bars.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The companions of our childhood always possess a certain power over our minds which hardly any later friend can obtain.

may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

How ADORABLE is your little Frankenstein! Aren't grandchildren just the best! I confess I have never watched the film Frankenstein all the way through nor read the books. I just can't get into it. Your recipe sounds delicious! xoxo
