50 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:25 am

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
The first week of August is known nationally as Simplify Your Life Week. Let’s face it, life is hectic! Between work life, home life, family time, and you time, there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day. This week, it is time to simplify it all, once and for all.
If you are ready to escape from the everyday chaos, take this week to relax and get organized at home. You will be happy that you did!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Live simply that others might simply live.
Elizabeth Ann Seton
With crazy schedules and growing responsibilities, I think we need a gentle reminder to slow down and simplify. The pictures today are of the sign that hangs on the back door. I got it at a flea market several years ago and I know I’ve shown it to you before, but I thought it fit in with the theme for today.
Here are two big steps to simplifying your life:
Identifying what’s most important to you
Eliminating as much of everything else as you can
Simplicity isn’t just about less mindless and needless stuff, it’s also about spending time and money in ways that will enrich your life and the lives of those around you.
Simplifying your life will make way for the things that really matter like family and relationships. Living with less also allows us to do more to help those in need too. And that should be one of the goals of simplicity.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Watermelon Day !
This big fruit deserves it's own big day. So, we give pause to celebrate watermelons on National Watermelon Day. Sweet and tasty, watermelons, are one of summer's favorite fruit. It's standard fare at picnics. While watermelon is over 90% water, it sure tastes good. And, what picnic would be complete without a seed spitting contest?
I make a lot of lemonade in the summer and usually have some leftover watermelon too so I thought this might be a great way to pair up the two for a very refreshing summertime drink.
Watermelon Lemonade
6 cups cubed seedless watermelon, chilled
4 cups cold water
3/4 cup fresh strained lemon juice, chilled
2/3 cup granulated sugar, more or less to taste
Ice and fresh mint for serving
Add watermelon to a blender and pulse until well pureed. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl. In a large pitcher whisk together water, lemon juice and sugar until sugar has dissolved. Stir in pureed watermelon. To serve: alternately add ice and mint directly to individual cups and pour lemonade over. Store in refrigerator.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
Robert Louis Stevenson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4099. for lemons and watermelon, simply refreshing
4100. for the simple life, it’s a relaxing way to live
4101. for my good cup of Caramel Vanilla Creme coffee this morning!
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.
Albert Einstein
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

That punch recipe looks refreshing. It is good to simplify one's life indeed. I don't like to dust, so years ago I simplified thinks by not having too many knickknacks around to move. Makes dusting so much easier.
