THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Son, you outgrew my lap, but never my heart.

I won’t be seeing this son today, but hopefully will be celebrating his birthday a little later on this month when we get together for our 3rd Sunday family dinner. I’m going to be off to the funeral for DS#1’s FIL instead. Thankfully DD has offered to drive, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to go as I don’t drive that far myself anymore.
Today is also Book Lovers Day which encourages us to find a place in the shade to relax with a good book. I love to read and would probably be doing just that on any other day.
Book reading is a great hobby. It's an important one, too. Employers look for it on resumes. Reading is educational, informative, and relaxing. It makes us both smarter, and happier people.
They are saying we could see some rain for a change today, I’m hoping it’ll keep dry while we are traveling.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Rice Pudding Day!
One of my DDH’s favorite desserts was rice pudding. He always raved about how much he loved his grandmothers rice pudding and as hard as I tried I could never quite make it taste the way he remembered it. None the less, I love it too and make it often just for myself.
Old Fashioned Rice Pudding
4 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 large egg
1/2 cup Sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
cinnamon
Warm the milk in a medium sized saucepan over medium low heat. Stir in rice. Bring to a simmer and cook, uncovered, stirring frequently, until the rice is very tender, about 35 minutes.
In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the egg, sugar, vanilla and salt. Gradually stir in some of the rice mixture until well blended. Return the mixture to the saucepan and stir over medium-low heat for 1 minute to cook the egg. Pour the mixture into 6 custard cups and sprinkle with cinnamon. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until chilled.
Makes 6 servings.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Each day comes bearing its own gifts. Untie the ribbons.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4117. for DS#5, it’s his birthday today
4118. for rice, good and good for you too
4119. for books, I do love to read
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
