Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
It’s Son and Daughter Day which is the perfect opportunity to set aside some time to reflect on the joy that children bring to your life. Whether sons and daughters are young or old, teenagers or toddlers, the bond between parent and child is like no other on earth and this annual celebration ensures the miracle of bringing new life into the world is never forgotten. The best gift to give on Son and Daughter Day is the gift of time.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses.
Joyce Brothers
I have a large family, 6 sons and 1 daughter and love them all so much. They are all grown now with homes and families of their own. I’m a proud mom and am happy to say they are all wonderful adults, but you never stop being a parent no matter how old your children are. I’m thankful for all of them and the joy they bring into my life.
Having a happy family starts with giving the gift of time to each other. As important as shared experiences are for adults, they are even more important for children. The gift of time is the one gift you can never get back or take back.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Raspberry Tart Day!
The month of August seems to be all about raspberries so here’s another recipe to help you celebrate !
Lemon Custard Tart with Raspberries
1 pie shell
1/2 lemon, zest removed with a grater
2/3 cup sugar
2 large eggs
4 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
2 tablespoons sour cream
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
2 1/2 cups fresh raspberries
Preheat oven to 375, and place rack in center of oven.
Place the sugar and lemon zest in a food processor and mince until the zest is as fine as the sugar. Add the eggs, butter, and sour cream and blend for 1 minute. Add the lemon and orange juice just to combine. Pour the filling into the prebaked pastry shell.
Place on a baking sheet and bake until the center is softly set, but not firm, about 12 minutes. Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool completely.
This tart can remain at room temperature for several hours before serving. Up to 2 hours before serving, cover with washed and dried berries.
This is a new recipe which I’ve yet to try. Still not turning the oven on here.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

So true of the bonds between a parent and a child, no matter how old they may be. We always think about them, worry about them, pray for them, etc.
betty
You have a beautiful family. You are a very lucky woman!! I only raised sons so getting to raise a granddaughter has been a treat (?) much different than raising boys!!
