Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
August 28 is Bow Tie Day, an annual holiday that celebrates the elegant fashion accessory usually worn by men at formal occasions. In the early days, the bow tie was specifically reserved for formal occasions. Black tie attire became a term synonymous with tuxedos worn with black bow ties. Outside of formal events, bow ties gained a reputation of being associated with stodgy intellectualism, thought to be worn by people who did not care much about what others thought of them. In recent years, bow ties have become cool again. Today, they are part of the daily attire of many men and women.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Sunday clears away the rust of the whole week.
Joseph Addison
Sundays are usually my day to rest but this week has been a very busy one here and today will be needed to get ready for what appears to be another busy week ahead.
The weather has been extremely hot and humid so that doesn’t help much at all. They say that after today a few days in the lower 80’s are coming our way and that’s an improvement for sure. It’s still very much like summer and although I’ve seen some leaves starting to turn on the trees, this summer is having is certainly having it’s last fling.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
This may not be Bow Tie Pasta day but I made a variation of the recipe for yesterday’s party yesterday, so I thought it fit in with today’s theme .
Bow TIE Fighter Pasta Salad
1 package BowTIE Pasta, 16 ounce
1 cup Mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Milk
1 package Dry Ranch Salad Dressing Mix, .7 ounce
1.5 cup Frozen Petite Peas, Thawed
2 carrots grated
1/2 cup crumbled bacon bits
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese
Cook the pasta and drain well. Mix the mayo, milk and and ranch dressing mix together. Add peas, carrots, bacon bits and onion to pasta. Add the ranch dressing mixture. Mix into pasta mixture then sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Sunday is the golden clasp that binds together the volume of the week.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

Funny, I never associated a 'black tie event' w/ bow ties. Neither did I realize they were coming back into fashion. Neat!
Your pasta recipe sounds cool and refreshing!
I love a man in a bow tie Pam! When we went to the Turkey Awards, Todd got to wear his Tux with a bow tie. He looked positively smashing! That bowtie pasta salad looks fabulous! I have to take a salad to a BBQ today and I think this will be the one! Thanks so much for sharing! xoxo
