Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is National Dog Day which has two goals: to honor dogs, and to rescue dogs from homelessness and abuse. It's an opportunity for us to recognize and appreciate the value and importance of dogs in our lives. In addition to giving love and companionship, dogs help us out in countless ways. They are watchdogs for our safety. They lead the blind. Dogs aid in search and rescue, and they seek out bombs and drugs.
It’s a good idea to lend a hand to help a dog in need today, or any day.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
All I Need To Know About Life I Learned From My Dog
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
Thrive on affection and let people touch you - enjoy back rubs and pats on your neck.
When you leave your yard, make it an adventure.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't pout - run right back and make friends.
Bond with your pack.
On cold nights, curl up in front of a crackling fire.
When you're excited, speak up.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
If you stare at someone long enough, eventually you'll get what you want.
Don't go out without ID.
Leave room in your schedule for a good nap.
Always give people a friendly greeting.
If it's not wet and sloppy, it's not a real kiss.

I love dogs and have rescued a few in my day. Now the only dogs I have in my life are grand dogs. Those that my children have. I occasionally get to dog sit for some of them and they are always welcome here at my house.
Dogs are great companions and never fail to offer us their loyalty and love. It is one of the saddest things to visit a shelter and look at all the wonderful dogs there just wanting a home where they can be loved. I can remember the visit I made when adopting one of my beagles and they had all been out on a walk led by volunteers at the shelter, and just stood there wagging their tails at me. Each one seemed to be saying, Take me home today. I left with only one dog, but I know that all the others would have made wonderful pets too.
This has been another fast week here at my house. The pictures today are of some of my grandchildren on their first day of school this year and first picture is of one of my granddaughters with one of their dogs. There will be a few more pictures to come as all of them have not started school yet. Hopefully by Labor Day weekend, I’ll have pictures to share of the rest of them.
Tomorrow I’ll be going to a party for our little Mr. Wonderful who’ll be 6 years old the end of this month. His picture is shown above.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Cherry Popsicle Day
What's better on a hot August day than a delicious, icy popsicle? The good news is that you can make them or buy them. If you make them you can use cool aid, drink mix, cherry juice, or marchino cherry juice. You can combine any of these and freeze them in a paper cup with a popsicle stick inserted in the center or use a popsicle mold if you choose. I used to do this with my children and although they were enjoyed, I think they preferred the ones I bought at the store.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4168. for all my grandchildren, hope they have a wonderful new school year
4169. for dogs, especially those grand dogs in my family
4170. for popsicles, cherry are the best
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

The gremlins are at it again! I thought it odd that your Saturday post didn't publish; then this and today's both appeared on my dashboard within a few seconds of one another .....
Dogs are certainly my Achilles Heel, and I love what you said about rescues. The two we have now try my patience like none other, but I truly can't imagine life without them. They can teach us humans so much, if we'd just stop and 'listen.'
Oh Pam, I do love all the back to school photos of your Grands! What a delightful bunch. We love dogs here as you know. Our pooch is the most spoiled on the planet I think, and as you know I have a couple of grand dogs as well. I never thought I was a real dog person until I moved over here and was finally allowed to have one. (My ex would never let us have one.) I am a dog person through and through. I love all animals, but dogs, they have a special place in my heart and my home! Thanks so much for all you share, and especially that piece on all I know I learned from my dog. So true! God bless you! xoxo
