Today is National Aviation Day is in honor of the birthday of aviator Orville Wright, August 19, 1871. The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, were pioneer aviators in the United States. Orville was the first person to successfully fly an airplane. His first flight was December 17, 1903 at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This inaugural flight was soon to change the skies forever.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The Wright Brothers created the single greatest cultural force since the invention of writing. The airplane became the first World Wide Web, bringing people, languages, ideas, and values together.
Bill Gates
I have taken a few airplane rides in my day Taking an airplane saves hours of travel time. Thanks to a couple of my out of
state children, I’ve been able to visit them and I certainly wouldn’t have been able to drive it and get there that quickly. The pictures today were taken from my window on one of those trips.
Now a days long trips are not a thing I can enjoy one way or the other. Driving more than an hour tends to put me to sleep and that’s not good for me or for anyone else. There has been no vacations for me this summer, only the staycation variety as most all of you should know, since I retired most every day has been like a vacation.
More and more home is the place to be.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Potato Day which is a day to celebrate and enjoy a few potatoes. The versatile spud can be enjoyed in some way for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and as a snack.
One of our family favorites when it comes to the holidays is cheesy potatoes and here’s the recipe in case you might like to try them.
Cheesy Hash Browns
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
1-1/2 cups Sour Cream
1 pkg., 32 oz. Diced Hash Brown Potatoes, thawed
1 pkg., 8 oz. shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
optional:
20 RITZ Crackers, crushed
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
Heat oven to 350°F. Mix soup and sour cream in large bowl until blended. Add potatoes and cheese; mix well.
Spoon into 13 by 9 inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. You may also combine cracker crumbs and butter; sprinkle over potato mixture.
Bake 50 min. or until heated through and bubbly.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
More than anything else the sensation is one of perfect peace mingled with an excitement that strains every nerve to the utmost, if you can conceive of such a combination.
Wilbur Wright
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4147. potatoes, always good at any meal
4148. for airplanes and their inventors
4149. for a permanent vacation
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I have always loved the story of the Wright brothers Pam! I took my first airplane flight at 12 months, but cannot remember that one of course! I have flown many times through the years. As I get older, it gets harder and more stressful. My adventure soul has got up and went I fear! Love the looks of that casserole! Have a super Friday! xoxo
I like those cheesy hashbrowns!
I'm not a flier but it surely is a quick way to get from point A to point B. We haven't taken any vacations this summer either; looking for maybe something in the fall :)
