84 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 5:58 am

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Meteor Watch Day! A meteor or shooting star is the visible streak of light from a heated and glowing meteoroid falling through the Earth’s atmosphere. Legend has it that if you wished upon a shooting star the wish would come true.
The size of the meteoroid can vary the size of a closed fist to the size of a pebble. Thousands of meteoroids enter the Earth’s atmosphere on a daily basis, but very few of them actually reach the surface; but when they do, they are called meteorites.
To celebrate Meteor Watch Day, hope for clear skies and spend some time star gazing. Remember if you see a shooting star, make a wish.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to live and to work and to play and to look up at the stars.
Henry Van Dyke
It’s wonderful to sit out on a warm summer night and watch the stars. I’ve rarely seen a shooting star, but they are quite a sight for the eyes when you see one. As a child I learned to wish on the first star I’d see at night.
Star light, star bright,
The first star I see tonight;
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish I wish tonight.
I know I made lots of wishes over the years and yes, some of them did come true. But we do need to be careful what we wish for. If you get things that you desire, there may be unforeseen and unpleasant consequences. We need to think carefully about the changes that we might like in our life.
We should make our wishes count. Wishing for good things for others is never a waste of time. Making someone’s wish come true is wonderful. Stars remind us of the goodness and limitless possibilities that lie before us.
This brings a wish your way - Good health, good luck, and happiness. For today and every day.

I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
National Ice Cream Soda Day
Add a special drink to any meal and it becomes a celebration!
Simple Ice Cream Soda Recipe
1 carton of vanilla ice cream
Soda of your choice
1 large glass
Straws and spoons
Place your large glass in the freezer for an hour or so before you make your ice cream sodas. Chilled glasses will help keep your ice cream from melting too quickly.
Place two scoops of vanilla ice cream in the bottom of your chilled glass.
Slowly pour soda into the glass, over the scoops of ice cream. Pour the soda a little at a time to allow for the foam to settle.
Serve with spoons to scoop up the ice cream and straws to savor every last drop of the creamy soda.
COUNTING MY GIFTS

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU !

I think we are supposed to have a cloudy day today so I don't think I'll be able to watch for any meteors. I saw a few falling stars over the years, always an interesting sight to see.
I love floats made with coke; always so delicious on a hot summer day.
betty
