87 DAYS UNTIL FALL

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Sunglasses Day which is all about a shady day for your eyes.
Summer is in full swing. The sun is high in the sky. It's blindingly bright. A pair of UV protection sunglasses is definitely in order.
Your Optician will tell you that sunglasses with UV protection, will help to avoid cataracts. They also report that UV rays can be stronger in the winter, as the sun's rays hit you on the way down....and as it is reflected back up from the snow.
Enjoy Sunglasses Day with a shady, mysterious and fashionable pair of sunglasses.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To learn about eye protection, ask someone who has one.

These sunny days of summer require a little protection, like sunscreen and sun glasses. I always have mine on as my glasses have transitional lens that adapt to the amount of UV rays they receive. Sometimes it takes awhile for them to adjust after being outside, but this minor inconvenience is well worth it.
It’s easy to forget about our eyes, but it’s important to protect them. Today’s picture are random shots of various members of my family wearing their sunglasses.
It’s to be a little cooler here than yesterday with temps in the mid 80’s and the rest of the week is supposed to be quite pleasant too.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Orange Blossom Day
June is known to be the month for weddings so today I’m sharing the recipe for:
Orange Blossom Wedding Punch
1 gallon orange sherbet
32 ounces 7 Up, ice cold
2 quarts ginger ale, chilled
Cut sherbet into large pieces in punch bowl. Pour 7 Up from inside rim of punch bowl. DO NOT POUR DIRECTLY ON SHERBET!
Pour ginger ale in same manner, not directly on sherbet. Stir very lightly until mixed, but leave thick and lumpy. Serve immediately.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
Robert Louis Stevenson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3988. for eyes, sight is good
3989. for sunglasses, they protect the eyes
3990. for mild summer days, just wonderful
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.
Audrey Hepburn
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I didn't know that about sunglasses helping to avoid cataracts. I'm thankful we do have them to protect our eyes from the hot summer rays!

Yes, it is very important for people to protect their eyes outside. I have always worn sunglasses. I cannot be outside without my sunglasses on! Especially driving. I am sure I have had that punch somewhere. And it is wonderful!! Have a happy week, Ma!!
What a great post, as always! I love Robert louis Stevenson, I keep meaing to do a post about him!
And I have fond memories of that punch from weddings during my childhood, I thought it was very good!
AND I have always worn sunglasses even as a kid, I drove my Mother crazy! LOL! xx
