Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Fairy Day. Whether you see them as small winged tenders of the deep natural places of the earth, or as tall stately figures with fair skin and hair, there’s one thing for certain. The world has been absolutely captured by the Fairy Craze. These creatures appear on everything from mugs to tee shirts and have been the subject of children’s fairy tales and even supernatural romances. Fairy Day celebrates these incredible mythological creatures that have captured the imagination of people everywhere and their diverse history.
Remember at least to keep the fairies in mind on Fairy Day, and be on the lookout to catch a glimpse of a fairy.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy. So there ought to be one fairy for every boy or girl.
James Barrie, Peter Pan
Did you know that in Fairy lore it says that Midsummer is a time of year when the veil between the human world and Fairyland thins, allowing the worlds to mingle. People were warned not to fall asleep outside at Midsummer because they might be carried off by the fairies. I’m here to say that I have fallen asleep, taken a nap on the porch, and haven’t been carried away by the fairies. Ha ! None the less, I would agree that summer is a magical time of year. Just taking a look at all the lovely blooms outside makes me believe that could be some fairies lurking there.
It’s also the time of year here when the lightening bugs come out. They always light up the night with their lights. I love to watch them and the kids love to try and catch them. Fireflies remind me of fairies, they also bring lots of happiness along the way.
It’s suppose to be a beautiful summer day here at my house and I hope to spend some time out doors before it heats up again. This weekend is supposed to be another hot one. Today’s pictures are from the butterfly house we visited yesterday at one of our local metro parks.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday !
Fairies are invisible and inaudible like angels. But their magic sparkles in nature.

WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Pralines Day
Pralines are a classic Southern confection that are simple to make, yet make a very impressive and well loved treat
Easy Pralines
1 cup whipping cream
1 pound light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon butter
2 cups pecans
Mix the cream and the brown sugar in a large microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 13 minutes, removing to stir once or twice while cooking. After 13 minutes, remove from microwave and stir in vanilla, butter and pecans. The mixture will thicken a little, and become more opaque. Drop onto waxed paper and allow to harden.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Each fairy breath of summer, as it blows with loveliness, inspires the blushing rose.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3979. for magic, it’s there when we look for it
3980. for lunch with friends yesterday
3981. for all the beautiful flowers blooming outside right now
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Happiness is like those palaces in fairy tales whose gates are guarded by dragons: we must fight in order to conquer it.
Alexandre Dumas
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

How cool with the butterfly house! A nice place to explore! Corgis were associated with fairies so it was nice to read about today being fairy day :)
I think taking a nap on a porch would be a very nice thing to do on a summer day!

You know how much I love fairies Pam, so today's post was right up my alley! I have not seen a firefly since I moved here to the UK. I think perhaps they are native to North America. Many happy memories of catching them as a child and then watching my own children chase them around in the dusk. Can you believe I have never tasted a Praline? I know. Must have been living under a rock! God bless and Happy Saturday. Thanks for all that you share. xoxo
I have not seen a firefly since moving to Germany...I miss them!
Wishing you a great weekend :)
